I just had one of those days.  I totally enjoyed it.  However, now I am checking in at 9:30 this evening just in case I need to see someone before my first appointment at 9 in the morning.  I really wish I could go 2 days and take a break just to de-spam my mind!

The last time was when I was on vacation in Alaska 5 years ago.  Before that was before I had my computer.

Oh my - I can't remember any day like that in recent history!  If I were to, I would probably feel guilty, though.

It makes me feel anxious.  I hate the thought I might be missing out on business.  At the same time I am getting better about putting off the unimportant. 

Yes, I occasionally go a day without using my computer.    I usually feel a mixture of guilt and liberation.     Vacations are another story - I have a wonderful associate who handles almost all of my business then.

Yes, it feels liberating. I enjoy a Saturday or Sunday quite often doin this. Plus having the television off. 

I can't say I have done that for years.

I should also add that I am a swimmer.  I do not take my cellphone to the pool. Three or four times a week, I have an hour and a half or a little longer, to reconnect with my own thoughts, while unplugged from the matrix.

Only when we are on vacation or escape for a couple days to our cabin which has no internet and cell service.  Very liberating!

Sadly, do not remember a day that I have not logged into email.   In 2002 when traveling Europe, we stopped in at an Internet cafe every day.   

Well I kind of did that last week when I went to Utah. I did have to check emails, but that was all I did. I didn't feel guilty. 

It's nice to leave it, but I rarely do!  I don't generally take my phone with me when I walk the dogs, but it's not like I'm walking the dogs all day, either.

Hi Debbie -- I'm with Margaret Goss -- I can't recall that in recent history either. I'm not sure if the feeling would be guilty, liberated or just "lost".   

Both!  I always take a peek at Facebook, my email and, AR, of course, but I'm never totally "off the grid."  It's part guilt and part "I have to know what's going on.'

Yes and no, I don't feel guilty. I'm getting my freedom and reward for my performance.

Hi Debbie...No, I don't think I've made it a day without looking at something because I would feel guilty. 

When camping or driving in rural or mountain areas, I may be off the grid with no WiFi or cell phone service.  I check messages when I get back to "civilization".

Taos, New Mexico has a single fiber optic line that connects the town to the internet backbone along I-25.  They have had 5 internet/cell phone outages since 2012.  Most recently, communications went out for 10 hours when a work crew cut the fiber optic line while digging a hole for a power line pole. 

Bigger cities have redundant internet connections.  But small towns and rural areas may rely on a single fiber optic line.  Like the Old West when the bad guys would cut the telegraph line.

Nope but I sure would like to have one of those days real soon! 

Sunday is that day for me, even at the risk of Clients dumping me because  I declare that day my off day, my refresh, my regenerate, my recharge day.  29 years in this business has taught me, if I don't give myself 1 consistent day off every week, I will be poorly managing my burnout potential.  Burnout shows up when just the thought of real estate irritates me.  Then, I have to give myself 1 or more mental-health days, until I start to feel the hunger  for real estate return.  My Clients have access to me as early as 7a to past 11p 6 days a week.  I had to teach myself not to feel guilty when I elect to have that 1 day for Dale resting from all the serving I unconditionally give to others throughout the week. 

We used to have days when we would totally disconnect, usually on a weekend, but nowadays so much of our business takes place through social media, email and even texts that it's next to impossible to stay away for a whole entire day. And we're OK with that. Better to check in on a regular basis than miss something that might need immediate attention!

Because my email goes to my phone and iPad, I am sorry to say that it is not the case with emails. But there are days when I don't answer what I don't have to. And yes, there are days I do not log into Social Media sites. For a reason. 

And that reason would be.... my sanity!

I am always connected- unless I am out of the country- then I have someone else monitoring for me.  It is very liberating!

Debbie -  I have had days like that.  Usually when I'm on vacation.  When it happens, I feel both guilty and liberated at the same time!

What great question!  One of these days I will do just that and try to keep the guilt at a distance - hopefully.  Being tied to our 'stuff' can be exhausting. 

I LOVE holidays for this reason! I am looking forward to Easter Sunday, a day with no phone, no text, no email. Just God, Family, and food.

Days like this make me feel recharged....not guilty, because they happen too infrequently.

Rarely, but the guilt get's to me.  I try to stay connected but put off doing "work" if I am on a true vacation.  Everything goes to a cooperting agent and it work fine.

I did this one weekend and people died on me so no more. Powering up is just like reading the newspaper, just routine. NOW not watching TV, I do that all the time. I get 100 emails in half a day so that would be crazy not to clear that out SOON.

I don't think I've gone an entire day without logging in somewhere, usually AR and facebook are a regular routine for me.

Even on my days off, I usually check email and texts. The few times I've been out of touch, I actually do feel refreshed and ready to go back to work. Hmmm...maybe there' a point here....:)

Not yet, but I am starting to turn my phone off at night. If someone calls with an emergency, I leave them my home number...but it better be an emergency.

I always check my messages , email and texts but do not go on active rain sometimes and check fb rarely.

The only time that happened was when I was i the hospital!  When I went to  Australia for a month in 2010, I carried an iPad and logged on to wireless networks at least once or twice a day.   The intertnet keeps me connected to family, friends, and the world, as well as to business.

I really don't think in those terms and social media does not rise to that level. It is normally about marketing or it is to connect with a friend.

But I do remember pre-real estate career when I would travel for 1 month at a time to South America, Africa, Asia, and never brought a cell phone or smart phone. That was very liberating and I'd always come back thinking "I'm going to change!" It never lasted, I'm in business.

Social media sites I can ignore without guilt. Email and texts, not so much and I really don't not check. Now, I might make a decision not to respond further, but I always see what's happening "just in case."

I don't think I have ever not checked my emails since I had one! Don't know how I would feel, because it's never happened...

I will often take a day and not check email.  It is a liberating feeling but you need to be prepared for the Avalanche the next day. Still, it is well worth it. 

I think, I always check my emails, texts, and social medias. It is just a habit, not the obligation.

Hi Debbie, I can not say that I have ever missed a day logging into my mail.  I don't think I would ever feel guilty because I have a personal assistant that looks after things. :)

I log onto my email, texts and of course AR, but I don't always make the social media sites, which I'm not at the guilty level yet.

My phone notifies me anytime I receive a text/email/notification/etc and it eats at me until I respond.. I'd have to turn my phone off to not respond. However, I have had a couple days where I left my phone at the house. Very peaceful days.

Yes, but I often pay the price. It is hard because so many depend on me to keepup. If I miss adayI often miss business but sometimes it is worth it.

I use those tools for my news input and sports, missing the NCAAs could not do it.  I like being on the grid and if I am snow shoeing I love having my GPS.

SMS is great.

I enjoy keeping up with friends on social media.  Email is a must-do, especially for clients.  Given the timing aspect of this business, it must be checked daily and several times at that.  What I hate about email is sorting through spam, delegating it to spam and wasting that time.  What I love about email is that you can document, document, document each conversation to ensure I heard it the way my client intended.

To be honest, I have my days where I would love to turn the "world" off, however, I can't remember a day when I went off grid completely.  I'm looking forward to a day like that.

When I'm away for a day I have no "connection to the world" but I always check email before I leave and again when I get home. Haven't gone away for all night in so long I barely remember it. The last time was a trip to visit my son a few years ago - and I took along a laptop so I could check email.
