“We will have good days and we will have bad days. And seldom will we know which is which.” Truth is that there are no good times without bad times. And when we twist ourselves into pretzels to avoid bad times, we may just end up creating worse times. In fact, one of the best things that ever happened to me is when my parents allowed me to fall on my backside when I was 27. That pain kept me from making those same mistakes again. When we are allowed to have bad times and allowed to fall on our backsides, it can allow us to learn, grow and have even better days ahead.

There is plenty of fear out there right now but don’t let fear deter you from your goals. Playing it safe and taking the path of least resistance is a choice many people take. But taking the safe course of action may be more risky than stepping out there. You may lose an opportunity, your competitive edge or your business when you play it safe. Someone else may replace you while you are in your comfort zone. This is the takeaway. There is risk of acting but there is also risk of inaction. Being fearful of acting may be much riskier that taking that action. How many times have you said, I should have, I could have, I would have? I recently coached a Westchester County NY business executive. She wanted to advance in her career, but she was playing it safe and waiting for the right time. ...

With all that has happened the past few years, months, or weeks, can you believe this? And I didn’t hear anyone talk about it. Then too… News is something I do not even know how to spell anymore.    Imagine, no one talking about this to my knowledge. Maybe one station when they were giving the weather report said something. But I don’t watch the weather either. For Phoenix it is six months either HOT or HEAT, (but it is a dry heat) the other six months it is just right. NO hurricanes, NO tornadoes, NO earthquakes, NO sleet, NO ice, NO snow, now rain? Five days ago, it rained for three days, the most we had seen in 15 months… Lightning, thunder, rain coming down in sheets as we used to call it. It was wonderful, everyone out looking up, waving, singing, saying: “hi rain, glad to see you....

Going Banana's Flambé! As a tribute to one of my all-time favorites chef's, I decided to prepare a classic French dessert with one of her most memorable dishes for this month's ActiveRain cooking challenge.  After getting the ingredients from the pantry, the back of my neck prickled. I continued on, peeling the banana's, softening the butter, measuring out the honey, cinnamon and lemon juice. Following the recipe, the smells wafting from the cast iron pan as the sweet sauce thickened, had me reminiscing of days long ago when I watched this famous, culinary genius on tv.  Suddenly, the face of Julia Child showed up clearly in the flames! I was befuddled and knocked the open bottle of cognac over onto the lit stove, instantly igniting the entire range!  In my husband's haste to put the fi...

It took just a matter of days and multiple offers, and now this wonderful 2 bedroom 2.5 bath home is is under contract.  Close enough to Summerlin to enjoy all of it’s amenities and yet just outside the official boundary so as to not pay the Summerlin prices. Still less than 2 miles to the Red Rock Casino, Downtown Summerlin, Las Vegas Ballpark, fine dining, countless shopping, golf, nightclubs and so much more. At just 1,261 square feet it gives plenty of room where needed and still quite the value for the area. Located in a gated community and close to the Peccole Ranch trails, disc golf, tennis courts and more. Listed at just $328,000 this is a value that didn't last for long. For information on your home can have multiple offers in just a few days, contact Rocky Dickerson (702) 743-...

This is my third entry into Rocky Dickerson 's Savory Stories challenge.  Here is another summer special.  I received this recipe from Hello Fresh.  I subscribe to their boxes from time to time and I note the ones I really like.  This is one I liked and I tried to stay with their ingredients but varied them spices somewhat.  I made these last night and I could hardly contain Phyllis from eating hers until she held it for the picture above.  We both loved them. Here are the ingredients as I made them last night: 1 large yellow onion 1 poblano pepper 1 package of fresh cilantro 1 plum tomato 1 lime 5 teaspons white wine vinegar 1 pound of ground pork 1 teaspoon of garlic powder 1 teaspoon of chili powder 3 tablespoons of chicken stock concentrate 2 ounces of tomato paste 4 tablespoons of s...
