There are times when you wish that time would not pass, and that everything would just keep carrying on as it is right now. Especially when one is busy, and making sales, taking listings. You get in "flow" and all is good. Then there are those times when you wish they would just fly past. The past month has been one of those. From a bank deciding on the day of settlement that they would not fund a mortgage for which they had given a pre approval and a mortgage commitment. Loss of income is never nice, and when your buyer then feels you have not been protecting them because the seller refuses to sign the release of deposit notice, it all feels like why do I bother. Threats of a lawsuit from the seller. Another buyer client who had to put on hold their purchase as their landlord after sayi...

Should someone have secrets? Are they healthy and what do you do with them? If someone told you something and then said tell no one, why did they tell you? How about someone who is trying to SELL you a secret perhaps to cure a pain or illness, make you rich or get ahead quicker? The first time it is sold or given, it loses the veil of secrecySECRETS OF THE SECRETI remember when I was a kid and someone told me a secret. First of all, I couldn't wait to hear what was said. It intensified if you saw someone else telling someone a secret too. You wanted in on it badly. Tell me...tell me. I want to know tooCOME HERE...In a child's world, a secret is shared by coming close together, leaning toward the persons ear, cupping it and then gently whispering the most important news one could imagine...

Friday Flags: A Bank Office That Shows Its PrideA drive on Rt 63 in Naugatuck, CT on a bit of a windy day offered me a number of opportunities to take some flag photos.I stopped for the first flutter I saw and by the time I got out pf the car the wind had subsided. The building is the main offices of Ion Bank, which is memory is right are the administrative offices of what was once Naugatuck Savings Bank. As I wasn't in a rush, so I waited a few minutes to see if I would get a better shot. My flag patience is often rewarded, and I succeeded.I pass a lot of banks and don't understand why more don't display the flag. Maybe some accountant believes that the time spent to raise and lower it daily cuts into profits? Friday Flags: A Bank Office That Shows Its Pride

Photo Journalism - Just For Fun The Red Baron appeared in Peanuts Comic Strips on October 10, 1965.   Many Baby Boomers were thrilled when the imaginary Red Baron joined Snoopy and the Peanuts gang cartoon characters created by Charles M. Schultz. The Red Baron was actually a real German fighter pilot named Manfred Albrecht von Richthofen who became the antagonist for Snoopy's battles as the World War 1 Flying Ace. Snoopy's imaginary battles against the Red Baron continued for several decades. You can look him up for more information.  There was even a popular Snoopy vs. the Red Baron song. If you are interested, there are many different YouTube Video versions such as "Snoopy v.s. the Red Baron - The Royal Guardsman." It's a catchy tune that you may enjoy and because of copyright infrin...

Friday Fun..Pumpkins For several weeks I’ve seen pumpkins everywhere. My H-E-B has green pumpkins, white ones (I love white pumpkins), and traditional orange pumpkins. There are ones small enough for a child to carry and Texas sized pumpkins. There are also pumpkins with bumps all over them, tall ones and short ones. And some that look perfect for carving! Larry and I used to carve pumpkins each Halloween. Living in the south, you learn that carving too early could result in rotted, sunken orange ick!  Our pumpkins fell in the traditional/not-so-creative category. I love seeing what other, more artistic pumpkin carvers create. Inasmuch as neither one of us wants to try to make something out of the insides of the carved pumpkin, we opt now for faux pumpkins!  So for some Friday Fun…what ...

We’ve all been there: the alarm goes off, and instead of leaping out of bed, you hit the snooze button, groggily scrolling through social media. Before you know it, the day feels like it’s already slipping away from you. Sound familiar? That's exactly where having a morning routine can change the game. Why a Morning Routine?Mornings set the tone for the entire day. A solid morning routine isn’t just about productivity; it’s about creating a foundation that helps you feel centered, focused, and ready to take on whatever comes your way. Whether you’re a parent, a student, or a busy professional, the first hour of your day can be a game-changer.For me, establishing a morning routine felt like a revelation. Throwback Thursday The Drudgery of Laundry DayNo one likes to do it, but there is a point when you go to dress and there's just thing to wear yet the pile in the corner shows necessity.Pack it all up and head to the laundromat and hope it's not too crowded so that you can get in and out reasonably quickly.Don't want to get caught up in the gossip or to be the topic either.Of course, it wasn't always the case.Without the convenience of indoor washing machines or maybe even plumbing, there was only one way to get clothes washed. Also, if there was no tv or radio, or even a newspaper, how else would one get caught up on the local news. There was even a prep area or lacking a carriage, a temporary place to store the clothes while catching up on the last of the latest news. Then haul it off to ...

Growing fruit trees at home is both rewarding and practical. Whether you’re aiming for a small backyard orchard or just a few trees in your garden, cultivating fruit trees can provide fresh produce right outside your door. Here are a few easy tips for growing and caring for your fruit trees. 1. Choose the Right Tree for Your ClimateThe first step is selecting the right type of fruit tree. Not all trees grow well in every region. For example, apple trees thrive in cooler climates, while citrus trees love warmth. It's essential to research which trees are best suited for your specific location. A great resource is the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map, which helps identify your growing zone and suggests ideal trees for your area. 2. Planting and SpacingOnce you’ve chosen your tree, plant it i...

Thankful Thursdays…My Techie Gizmos and Gadgets Michael Jacobs wrote a post for this month’s October 2024 ActiveRain Tech Tools Challenge. I loved Michael’s post and it is a reminder that technology is in the eye of the beholder! In case you don’t know, I love technology and the many apps that add that “wow” layer. I grew up when you used a phone to call people not in your presence. If you wanted to take a picture, you used your camera.  When I was a kid, I wanted a Dick Tracy wrist watch that actually worked! I had to wait about 50 years but I eventually got one! (my Apple watch) That in the wrong hands technology can go wrong is not lost on me. I am concerned that some parents and guardians are using our devices to babysit their children. Criminals have expanded their “skills” into ha...

Leaf raking season has once again begun in Northern States like North Dakota. Raking leaves can be work but it can also be fun. As our kids were growing up they never tired of playing in the leaves and even having their pets play with them. The pic above is the real Titus (guinea pig) that you have enjoyed in Timmothy's daily cartoons. The pic below is Timmothy in the leaves about 12 years ago.If you do not have kids and you just want the leaves gone BUT you don't ant to hire the job out you still have options. #1) Mow and bag. Be prepared to empty that lawn mower bag often. #2) Rake. Do it on a non-windy day, often a trick in North Dakota. #3) Round them up with a leaf blower. This method is the most fun. You start at the edges of your yard and blow everything to the middle and then bag...

Spider on our Wall The spider on our wall is huge. And it's green.I am a bit of an arachnophobe, so I'm not entirely pleased about the situation. Good thing it's outside. Our nextdoor neighbors have 2 young children and they decorate their yard each Halloween with several inflatables. This year they added a new one - the spider - and asked if it could hang out on the wall. Of course we said yes. The grandkids won't get to see it in person this year but thought the photo I sent was great fun.  Here's the purple monster that hangs out in their yard, too. The kids love it when they have visited.  Halloween is in the air...and in lots of yards, no doubt with much more to come.
