Make Music Day is June 21, 2026 All are welcome to celebrate Make Music Day on June 21st at the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad from 10 am until 5 pm. What a special way to celebrate the first day of summer in 2026 with live performances and much more. The Fête de la Musique originated in France in 1982 and is now celebrated on June 21 in more than 2000 cities in over 120 countries. The original vision of the founders was a day of music for everyone to enjoy, whether they made the music themselves or just listened, all over each city. The dream has become a very visible reality and Make Music Day has spread throughout the world, arriving in New York around 16 years ago. On June 21, 2023 there were 4791 free concerts in 117 US cities (per Wikipedia). Who knows what music you’ll find i...

The Grass is Mowed, and my Allergies are AwfulBy HelpfulHannah If you walked outside today, you probably noticed it is hot and muggy, and perhaps the landscapers have mowed your lawns While we love the look of freshly mowed lawns, they are a nightmare for allergy sufferers. The lawn mowers are releasing high levels of pollen into your sinuses and throat. If you are feeling incredibly tired, headachy, and completely drained, you aren't imagining things.Systemic inflammation leads to "allergy fatigue" and intense sinus pressure headaches. Grass Pollen: High (This is your main culprit right now, and the lawn mowers are actively kicking these grass allergens straight into the air). Tree Pollen: Low (The worst of the tree pollen has wrapped up for the year). Weed Pollen & Mold: Low. When Wil...

Auburn Traditions: The Fight Song and What People Don’t Realize About It If you’re planning to relocate to Auburn, the fight song “War Eagle” is actually a much bigger part of the Auburn experience than many people realize. Most newcomers hear it for the first time at a football game. Then they hear it again. And again. And again. Before long, they’re humming it without even thinking about it.That’s because the Auburn fight song isn’t just music played during games. It’s part of the culture, part of the traditions, and part of what helps connect people to the Auburn community. For many people moving to Auburn, it’s one of those things that pulls you into the culture surprisingly fast.ScreenshotThe History Behind Auburn’s Fight SongThe Auburn fight song, “War Eagle,” was written in the 1950s ...

As Realtors, we often talk about schools, neighborhoods, and housing markets. But the true heartbeat of a community is found in the stories people share each week. This past week around Berea and Madison County highlighted exactly that.Residents followed the unusual story of Richmond's missing kangaroo eventually finding its way back home. Berea celebrated a young athlete earning an elementary state title, reminding us of the strong support behind local youth programs. At the same time, our community processed more difficult headlines involving legal allegations at a Madison County nursing facility, the sentencing of a former Berea College professor, developments connected to the Berea bank shooting investigation, and the tragic loss of a local resident in a motorcycle crash. These moments...

Which Auburn Intersection Makes You Want to Lose Your Religion?  If you’re living in Auburn Alabama, there’s one question almost everyone can answer immediately: Which Auburn intersection makes you want to lose your religion? We’ve all got one.Maybe it’s the intersection that catches every red light when you’re already late. Maybe it’s the one near shopping. Maybe it’s the one that seems completely fine until school lets out and suddenly nobody is moving. The funny thing is that traffic frustrations are often a sign of something positive. Auburn keeps growing. More students arrive every year. More families relocate here. More businesses continue investing in the area. Growth creates opportunity, but it also creates a few traffic headaches. And after the massive Argentina vs. Iceland socce...

Just 7 miles from Meggison Road and CR 470 in The Villages is Yalaha Bootlegging company at Blue Bayou Farms.  This more than just a distillery, how about a country store, fresh baked pies on weekends, craft cocktails and much more.  I am sharing recently about place just outside The Villages, Florida to give you more options of things to see and experience.  Central Florida has so much to offer and I have been fortunate to have in lived Ocala for three years and now The Villages for 15 years.Back to Yalaha Bootlegging, they offer free tasting and I believe you just might find a bottle or two to bring home.  Maybe do some shopping at the country store for some local produce and honey.  On their website they have pictures of some of their goods you might want to consider.  Read the story...

One of my favorite parts of being a Realtor in Madison County is getting to share what makes this community so much more than a place to buy a house. It's the people, traditions, and local events that truly create a sense of home. This weekend offers several opportunities to experience exactly that.Car lovers can connect at Richmond Cars & Coffee while enjoying great conversation and impressive vehicles. Community members can also support an important cause through the Cherif Hechema MTC Scholarship Tournament, which highlights the generosity and spirit that define our area.Families with a sweet tooth can stop by the Cookie Popup at Legacy Social Market, while shoppers looking to support local businesses can enjoy the Chenault Farmers Market Kickoff and discover fresh products from area ...

Wordless Wednesday…It’s Winding Down It’s only the beginning of June, but mating season seems to be winding down. In a way, it’s a good thing because our temperatures have been in the 90s this week. The internal box temps can be much hotter! One box (#1) contains two chicks that are expected to fledge this weekend.  At home, our box of chicks is getting bigger. I know they’ll be leaving us soon.  And, our box #3 that had two eggs last week now has four!Mating season isn’t only about baby bluebirds. We saw this mama black-bellied whistling duck and her chicks out for a morning swim.  The bluebird carries the sky on his back.                Henry David Thoreau
