It is obvious that folks often answer soley for the points - but that is part of the fun and acknowledgement for participation. If no points were given in the Q&A section - there would be much much less participation for those questions and answers that do "help" someone and are applicable. I know that I have learned things in this section that I wouldn't know if I didn't check in on a regular basis.  And if there were no points, Q&A would not get the eyes and time it gets.

Oh so many reasons. I don't answer every question. Yes, I want the points and yes it also benefits the person who wrote the question. It's also nice to interact with people on here. Some of us have been here since the beginning or near the beginning. Also, it's also beneficial to learn about other areas, especially when you are in a state with a lot of people relocation. Oh, and then there's that; the opportunity to find a relocation partner.

I missed those questions, the joys of being on vacation for 3 weeks.

 

Sometimes I'll answer those local ones because I think the events you put on sound like a big benefit to the local area and I want to give you support.  Other times, I'm genuinely wondering if you'll have a recording of them since the 4 hour drive to your area is not something I desire to do.

Something to ponder:  This is a "community" all about "engagement". 

In your example, have you considered that the person in Florida commented to show support of you, and your cause?  Is it possible the comment was not about the points?

Have you considered how crapping on comments reflects on you? 

What if NO ONE commented?  Would that be better for you?

Hi John, not sure if I ever answer any of your posts before, but I always learn something new and the answers here show me that everyone gets different amount of points per answer, wondering why. I get 25 points for each answer, and if someone answer to my post and was just for the purposes to get point, I don’t mind. I’m helping them to move forward or at least the point are the payback for their time spent reading my words. The important is to have fun. Enjoy your 4th of July 🇺🇸🎇
