Depending on the economy one needs to make adjustment. The days of getting interest in the bank and live on is gone. My parents bought utility stocks getting 8-10% dividends and lived on them got spoiled when fracking or abundence of natural resources were discovered. I learned from other RE investors they buy notes on the properties to flip as hardmoney lender getting 12-15% interest until the borrower default. Then you try to take their homes.
