Arlene Fisher Blaker - you are in MD - not sure how far from Baltimore. Look out for ActiveRain meet up hosted by Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland and few other prominent ActiveRain members. We have lots of fun together! And I am sure you will, too.

I have met several at meetups and other meetings in the area. It is always fun to see fellow AR members. I met one in FL on vacation too.

I do try to visit AR members when possible during my travels.  Good to hear that you had a good meeting.

Yes, I have met them at the Active Rain meetup in Charlotte NC when I first started in AR; and I've met Mary Yonkers twice as she traveled through West Virginia.

Yes I have and had the pleasure to do business with a couple of our top blogger here in the Greater New Orleans area.

I usually invite other Realtors for lunch or coffee.... I am making friends not soliciting for referrals. If I refer a potential client it will be to someone in my office that has the expertise in the area or transaction. 

Texas is large so sometimes I will refer to other agents who live in the area close to where the client want to buy or rent.

So don't expect to have someone meet up with you if they know the only expectation from you is a referral from them.... be old friends first. The referrals will come within time.

Great Idea! I'm game for meeting other agents.I know a few of the tech junkies out here that are on AR.  I have a few AR agents I would love to meet... I would like to have a variety of agents I can bounce ideas off. We all need to improve in an area of real estate...

The purpose: Do I really need to make a list of how important it is for me to be active with my fellow agents? Just maybe, I love what I do and I am open for any suggestions to better my career. I guess being on AR will help me with all my questions. I can hide behind my keyboard now.... (not)

Yup! Meet-ups and conversations over the telephone. Plus, a great source for referrals and referral partnerships.

I've met quite a few Rainers over the last few years, and talked to many more on the phone.  It's never like meeting a stranger, more like just meeting a long time friend, just in person for the first time.  Much gained from those meetings too, both in knowledge and friendship.  I've got quite a few more Rainers I'd love to meet in person someday.

I have met many people via Active Rain. I have not been able to attend the meet ups lately but it's one opportunity that I would not miss.

We are all competing for the same buyers and sellers. Active Rain makes it possible to overlook that and instead to make contacts whether it be for referrals or advice. I doubt we would be able to overlook the competition as we are competing with each other without Active Rain. It would be difficult. Would it be impossible? Perhaps not but Active Rain meet ups help with that and we benefit with the contacts.

Yes, I have met several fellow Realtors due to AR and blogging.  It's always good to meet in person and really get to know who we are talking with.

What would be the point of such a meeting?

Now if someone were to say or accept an offer to develop the official "Five Open House Strategies' manual, now we are talking about purpose. 

Or let's start slow. Lets meet up and provide analysis of our CTA and landing pages.

Or, I've got this bundle of dead end leads that I'll swap for your dead enders.

Ok, we can do this with a Marquita on the rocks. Now, that is a meet up that will be revealing and potentially worthwhile.

There are plenty of real estate brokers, mortgage lenders, title companies, home inspectors, and warranty vendors who are willing to waste my time and pick up the tab. That is why, purpose is important to me.

You don't know someone until you labor together. (who they are reveals when things go wrong) So, let's get to know each other.

I attended meet up this year. It was nice. I'll do it again next time. I called a few members too. I'm planning keep on calling and would be happy to hear from any of you.

I have met many members in person. It's really fun and I agree that everyone should try to meet up with other members whenever possible. 

I have met several at meetups and CE classes and I recommended (and met) Charles Buell to my clients for their home inspection. 

That sounds like a great idea.  I have commented on several today that I have not in the past.
