What a great question:  Where do the healthiest eating squirrels live? Los Angeles of course... Gloria Todor  and I were bantering about this very subject just the other day. So, without further ado look at these pictures, let me know where I am going wrong? Our backyard squirrels and I used to compete about our Tangerine crop. Now we are competing about the orange crop. The way I can tell our citrus is starting to get ripe is when I see the evidence our squirrels leave i.: the citrus peals. Now in all fairness I do not mind them eating the fruit, I just get annoyed when they waste to fruit. Often times I converse with my neighbors who have avocado trees, and they have the same stories to share.Well see for yourself. Now all I can say is not many states can provide such healthy nourishme...

I'm sure you have heard this say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." This simple, yet classic statement holds more truth than most give it credit. We all know how challenging life can be so why not seek to make the most of any challenge?Having survived my fair share of "lemon" moments in life, I have made the conscious decision to make lemonade. But, there really is a method to be able to make lemonade when your life appears to be falling apart. Here is my recipe for making Life Lemonade:L - Let the little things go! It is so easy to become bogged down by the minutia in life. If it isn't life-threatening, learn to let it go.E - Enjoy the ride. This one is way harder to execute. When I was recovering from losing a lung, I was determined to find the lemonade during the long, hosp...

Speechless Sundays - Basking in the Sun You know, I recently posted on FB, a couple of photos of Emma in Maddy's bed, then Maddy getting her bed back but, it's a different story with these two. You will often find them hanging out together throughout the day.I happened to be in my office responding to some Offers submitted on one of my listings and caught these two enjoying their time together in the sun. They are SO sweet - and Madelaine doesn't seem to mind that Gracie has the soft bed!Happy Sunday, Y'all! © Debe Maxwell, CRS | The Maxwell House Group | Savvy + CO | SavvyBroker@me.com | Speechless Sundays - Basking in the Sun

In March of 2012 I wrote the following post:Sometimes it does not pay to argue. No matter what you say or how solid your position, people are unwilling to hear what you have to say, absorb it or see the error of their way. It may aggravate you but it does not pay to argue with the opponent! Walking away is not easy but it is the best alternative. Why?Let me offer this bit of advice: "Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience."When the temptation arises to argue for a position I know is right, I strive to assess the competition. Sometimes they have made up their mind before they formed their position. No use in arguing with an idiot. Instead, I try to understand that I have been in their position many times.Enjoy your day.

In March of 2012 I wrote the following post:Do you consider yourself a good communicator? Do you speak in a clear voice with well organized thoughts? Do people seek your advice because you have a reputation of being of clear thought and speaking to the point? These are questions I seem to ask myself all the time. Sometimes, when I am honest with myself, I do not like the answer and seek to improve my ability to communicate. As I go through this exercise I am reminded of the following: "My ability to communicate is enhanced with my ability to listen." Since March of 2012 I have been on a constant journey to improve my communication skills. On the journey I have fallen off the wagon when I race to respond and fail to listen. The more I first seek to clearly understand the more effective my...

Remember when fancy belts for women were popular? The lovely Searcy lady who wore these belts died in 1999. I obtained them from an estate sale that was held at her home near downtown Searcy AR.  They are not very big around (remember when ideal waist size was 25") so she was a slim and graceful lady.  This fashion was popular in  1970's or 1980's If I remember correctly. She had an important friend, the mother of Cher! Click for blog.  https://activerain.com/droplet/8GDg.  Cher's mother lived in Searcy for awhile.  She called herself by the name Georgia Holt..  Georgia was born Jackie Jean Crouch near Searcy Arkansas. She came to live with her Aunt Zela Croom during the late 1930's when her parents separated.  She worked in the Croom Cafe, reportedly the only restaurant in Searcy at the ...

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Spring in Prospect CTSt Patrick's Day and it's festivities are over and as it is mid-March, and the clocks have made their move, all signs are pointing to spring. There is still some snow on the ground, but in some areas, it's getting close. The crocus sprouted and I almost missed them. The daffodils have started their growth and as happens they will be thicker and more plentiful than last year. They self propagate.Along our rock garden, the daffodils are also sprouting and as they get older they will eventually cover the entire area. And everyone knows that the foremost sign of spring are the robins, and I had this proud bird, puff out its breast for me to appreciate. The best sign of spring for me will be the pins being put back onto the greens. I can hard...

Evaluating the Educational ExperienceAs A New Season Arrives. . .  I have admitted to rabbit hole expeditions on more than one occasion.  There can be many twists and turns.  Some are consequential although many may seem meaningless. Life teaches me some sort of lesson each day.  I have yet to find a syllabus where things are presented in an organized manner.  I know I have previously presented this thought.  I apologize for my repetitiveness. But I also don’t.   Life continues to be a journey where reflection is part of the curriculum.   In a recent classroom experience - I answered a question about myself with a response I have used before.  A lot.  I remain a work-in-progress.  I was brief. With a dozen or so participants, I was aware of time. I was then asked - if there was anything...

My friends get together each year to celebrate March Madness.  It is four days of fun and frivolity.  We have been doing it since 1981.  Part of our celebration revolves around food and I always make dinner one night since I love to cook.  The meals have not always ended up well.  There was the time I smoked several tri-tip steaks in my barrel smoker.   I made beef jerky!  There was the time I made drunken beans.  The recipe called for two tablespoons of tequila.  I read it wrong and added two cups.  The beans were harsh to say the least. About 15 years ago, I decided to make them all Whiskey Glazed Corned Beef, from Cuisine at Home.  You should have heard the groaning.  "I don't like corned beef," many of them said.  "Maybe you should focus on breakfast this year," they said.  And mayb...
