To each their own, I say.  I'm not going to worry about what's going on in someone's mind or pocketbook when they choose to use dated photos (or any photo at all!)   I keep mine current for social media and don't include a photo on my cards (even though I get much better looking with each and every birthday!)

Yes, and so what.  Some of us are vain, so why not just be kind and smile rather than critique.  We are updating our photos later on this month, and I have to say that we do get recognize with this one still.  LOL A

What is even better when at a showing they show up and you ask if you may be of assistance!

Some of them shouldn't have their pic ON a business card. Mine isn't. And <<--- this pic is from April 2012 and getting updated NEXT WEEK for Xmas mailing.

that's very common.... they're either not aging well or they're too cheap to buy a photo session with a photographer......it's probably the first statement!!

Hey, as long as the agent got the job done and we closed, who cares?  We update our pictures once a year...  until we hit 60.  Then we're using our current picture!  

Yes, and I do offer free portrait shots to many agents to make them aware that a change needs to be made.

I have noticed that and when they get so dolled up that they don't look like their photos, what's the point? The photo is to help a person remember who you are, not confuse them.

Our photos should be current, and should recognize them in person.

Yes. Many real estate agents need to update their photographs. You want to be recognized at the grocery store.

Most of the ones I see are at least recognizable. I remember meeting one agent at a conference and making a note on the back of her card, "Now redhead (the photo was of a blonde) and 50 pounds heavier". 

Yes there is quite a few around here that have 20 year old photos as well. 

Yes almost like deceptive advertising.

I remember when I was new in the business and one particular agent used to run an ad at a local movie theater.   One day, someone came into the office to pick up a key and left her business card with the receptionist.  I asked who the person was and she showed me the agent's card ---- I shouted that's an impostor --- LOL -- she looked nothing like the photo she used in her marketing.  

Richard - I would have to agree. There are often times where I am a little shocked when I meet the agent in person, because I can hardly even recognize them.

Mind blowing - isn't it?  I think people need to update their photos at least every 5 years.  Oh no - mine is 2 years old.....

This is so true and a reason why our Board regularly sends out announcements for agents to update their pictures. Everyone tells me I look just like my picture, so I'm good.

Yes, some are real dogs!  Literally!

It's not just agents.  Lenders and warranty representatives do this also.  I think if your placing your picture on marketing material it should be recent.  Mine is and I would love to use an old photo, like 30 pounds ago!  My picture is not on my cards. 

That's why I don't put my photo on my card!  I notice it from time to time out here.

They can use what ever image they want. It is about marketing to those they have not met....and NO ONE cares what other agents think.

If that 20 year old image get the agent to the table...SUCCESS!  The rest of what is suggested is simply hyperbola. The meeting is the goal and most agents know 'If you can meet 'em, you can convert 'em."

I prefer seeing a 20 years ago image to one loaded with pets or children or infants.

And, if the practice is disturbing other agents in the area....then this is truly working for the bold, or what some suggest to be a not aging well agent, and should be ACCELERATED and AMPLIFIED.

Repeating, no one cares what agents think.

The only thing that matters is to get the meet.

Most here do not plaster their faces around like they used to. I'm always fascinated to see the other agent at the closing table, rarely what I expect!
