I like the term risk entitled.  Risk oblivious, to me, is the person who goes for a 12 mile hike on uneven and rocky surfaces with no water, barely any clothing and wears flip flops. 

 

Risk aware is like me going on vacation.  I know there is a risk involved in flying, I know there are risks involved with driving in the UK (right side of car, left side of road), I know there are risks associated with being in a foreign country.  I'm aware of them but accept them and move on with my life.

 

Risk adverse is like me and Mexico.  The risk of great bodily injury, kidnaping, etc. is far too high for me, so I avoid that country and advise others to as well.

As a former corporate executive who managed  risk (insurance, pension, investments, legal, trademark, etc.) for years for Fortune 500 companies as just one small part of her portfolio of responsibilities, I am always looking at risk potential and figuring out how to mitigate potential risk. Risk takers, playing with fire... I think the 3 categories sum it up pretty well but it's very 2019 to get entitled in there. Maybe there are a new breed of Millenial Risk Takers that fit that bill. When people ride out in the middle of the road I would call them risk aware, aware & they don't give af.

If you choose to believe it, risk is found in the minutiae i.e. when you get out of bed but you pay it no mind. From there, it is subjective and never-ending. It really has no beginning or ending and if used correctly is like working-out

Risk is an individual thing. What one person thinks is safe, another thinks it’s  risky. Examples are skydiving, flying, investing in the stock market, and riding a motorcycle at highway speeds. It’s the level of risk taking that each person can tolerate that makes us different. But I would never “label” them. I don’t judge people
