we call it shedwood here.  It's weatherproof boards for outside... I think. I remember that from an invoice.  I went and bought "shed wood" and my invoice said shiplap.  I argued they were selling me the wrong thing.

I have ship lap siding on my home. It is wood that is jointed with a rabbit like tongue and groove to overlap. Often used in Cape Cod style. It can be rough as in barn siding and vary in board width. The name comes from the idea that it is water proof and sea worthy

Ha Ha.  Chip tells Jo that if she and a house had a baby it would be called Shiplap.  Pretty funny.  I love reclaimed barn wood.  Don't have any in my house, but I love it.  And did you see the kitchen island she made from the floor of a rail car?  Loved it.

Looks like i got beat to the answer, but yes i knew and see it alot on the coast as it is a siding deemed weather proof from the big ocean storms.
