I use a variety of methods but one of the easiest ways is to track via Google Analytics (custom reports either created yourself or imported from the gallery). For basic information, both Hootsuite and Netvibes can give a limited but quick glance at some of your SM activity. I have heard that Lithium is a good option but I am averse to paying for something I can get for free via G.A.
