The biggest thing for me is to take care of Kathleen first. This includes time meditating and focusing on what I want to get done each day. The mind is a powerful tool ... I put that to work for me first and then the body gets into ACTION.

My wife and I get up early and our first conversation in bed is what and who are we grateful for? Then we discuss what is the one thing we want to make sure of getting done that day. Then we time block over coffee. So today I set aside 1.5 hours to proiduce videos, load them into Dropbox, and share with my video editor. In this time I set my phone message to call muy wife, a fellow REALTOR® and did not take any distractions. Job accomplished. Time management is a myth, time blocking is real.

I wake up early, make coffee and then take care of my personal and work emails, handle any new e-mail leads, check for new activity on our MLS, check in with ActiveRain, check Facebook for any birthdays/other big things, do my morning online Thesaurus crossword puzzle, then take the dog for a walk, and then get my exercise, shower, and go to the office/start appointments/or do whatever else I have to do that day.

I find if I miss any of my normal routines I'm a little discombobulated all day.

I have to get up before everyone in the house and just have some quiet time.  I've recently started going to the gym in the morning instead of the evening as well. I've found myself getting spikes of energy after workouts which caused me to have trouble sleeping. I do believe how you start your day sets the tone for how your whole day will go. So my morning goes like this:

Wake up with prayer/meditation whatever you want to call it.

5 minutes of self "affirmation" in the mirror

Get my wife and daughter up (wife needs help getting up for work)

Get my daughter ready for school while still trying to get  my wife up

Leave to drop my daughter off for school while still trying to get my wife up

Come back home to find my wife up, advise her she's going to be late

Go to the gym, come home, shower, go to work.

Sorry for the long answer

Its so important to time block based upon what needs to be done via the big picture. Way too easy to get distracted by small unimportant things.

My favorite ritual is a bib mug of coffee, lol:)

But if seriously, planning a day does keep you focused ( with so many distractions, it is the most difficult.... and crossing items from 'to do' list is such a relief;)

It took me many years to figure this out.
But... I get out, get out of the house, go get coffee.

If I don't (and I get it at home instead), the morning feels strange and weird and it won't work.

Likewise, if I push lunch too late, I get real cranky and can't be around myself.

Just the standard baby boy who's finally figured out to feed the body and the mind then flows so much more easily.

I have a list that I follow every day. It is a list that is separate from my regular calendar, and it includes things as simple as make sure to check Facebook for anything new to post a new blog item. I find that if I follow this ritual, I am staying on track and getting appointments because of it.

I think we're all on board with Kathleen Daniels!  We have to be at our best and that means taking care of ourselves.  If I don't get my exercise , I can't function. Sometimes it takes time out of the day and I feel guilty, but I'd feel worse if I didn't do it.

I have done the following:

1. made a business plan

2. follow the busines plan

The last thing about staying motivated is hard.  THough I just wrote a blog today titled "want a successfull 2015 - be like Forest Gump".  This is what I'm trying to focus on to stay motivated or on task.   You see he stayed laser focused on what he had to do, and did it well (ping pong, putting guns together, running, shrimping....).  For me it is doing the prospecting which is the hardest thing, but it is only 3 hours a day for me, and broken into several activities.  My goal then is to really focus on those 3 hours and not let anything distract from it - be like Forest.

I also listen to a lot of motivational speakers: Darren Hardy, Jim Rohn, ..........etc.

I agree, you should definitely take care of yourself first.  I've never tried meditating but I've been hearing more and more people talk about mediatating.  I think I will look into it to help center myself before starting my day.
