If you want to talk about growth and desirability in Thurston County, the Hawks Prairie area should be at the top of your list.   With big plans for new development, and many ongoing developments, the population of the area has grown exponentially, and for good reason.   For Military personnel moving to the area, Hawks Prairie is convenient to the freeway and the bases.  I personally made the commute for about seven years, and anywhere in Hawks Prairie to the Dupont gate of Ft.
