Concord North Carolina is one of our absolute favorite communities in the Charlotte area.  It has an excellent historic downtown, lots of big city amenities like the Concord Mills Mall, and is convenient to Charlotte.  In addition, Concord is also the home of NASCAR, MRN radio, and SMI.  We have just launched our new Concord NC Real Estate Microsite, which features lots of great pictures of the area, videos (with more to come), home sales figures, school, and other area information.  Please visit and let us know what you think and what you would like us to add.  http://concord.charlottehousehunter.com Some of the pictures are featured in a slideshow below.    After a fun filled afternoon at the Nascar Speed Park we worked up an appetite. I called the wife and asked her what we should pick up for dinner. She said, " Due Amici's, of course"!  Due Amici is located at 5346 A Prosperity Church Road, Charlotte, in the Bi-Lo shopping center. , I know, that's not Concord! Their food is so good, I had to blog about it. Due Amici has all kinds of Italian food ranging from pizza with all kinds of toppings to eggplant parmagian. Now, I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but their's is delicious! They sell Italian Ices and the best pastries. You'll love the Canolli.           We picked up garlic knots, zeppolis, a few pizzas...                                                                                                              and their amazing chic...

It's Friday and my brother is going back to NJ tomorrow. We promised the kids a day at Nascar Speed Park and that's just what we did. Nascar Speed Park is located in Concord Mills Mall across from Lowes Home store on Speedway Boulevard.                                                 Upon entering, you are greeted by a store of Nascar memorabilia and souvenirs. Further back is a large arcade. That was our first pit stop (pun intended). After several games of Skeet ball, Donkey Kong, and wall climbing we were revved up (there's that pun thing again) for the fast cars!                                                 The kids piled into the race cars and were ready to roll. They hit the indoor track first.  This track spans two levels and forms the number 8. I watched them drive and i...

Today's blog is about a great place spend the day....Concord Mills in Concord, NC. It is conveniently located at 8111 Concord Mills Boulevard across from the new Lowes Home Store.                          This mall has it all. You can shop, eat, play, even take in a movie. My brother and his daughter are visiting here from NJ for Thanksgiving. We decided to go out to lunch and I figured Concord Mills would be a fun place for us to take our kids to. The food court there is huge with plenty of choices of food...to satisfy anyone's palette.                                                                    The kind of food you can get there varies...some places are: Burger King Arthur treachers Nathans Sbarros Cajun Grill Chilis Sub Dip and more....      Smack in the middle of the foo...

When we first moved to North Carolina, we settled in Concord. After about three years, we gave Cornelius a try. Still later, we put down roots in Huntersville. In spite of living in all these different places, Concord remains near and dear to my heart.      That's why I decided to start a campaign for Concord. Every time I frequent a restaurant, movie theatre, park, etc, I will write a blog about it. My hope is that people from other parts of the country will read it and know how special Concord NC is.      Attached is the very first inststallment of my blog adequately named-                                        Tony Tours The Town - The Concord Chronicles           Perhaps one of the best places to eat in town is the IHOP located at 800 Cloverleaf Parkway, on the Kannapolis/Concord b...

I LOVE A PARADE !! Especially a Concord NC Christmas Parade Concord, NC had its annual Christmas parade on November 22, 2008. Spectators lined both sides of Union Street to watch floats, cars, trucks, and paraders on foot march their way down the heart of the city. My wife, two daughters and I found an old tree whose roots were so large and protruding out of the ground that it made for a ringside seat for us to sit on while we watched and enjoyed the festivities. Some homeowners had tables set up outside their homes with food and drink aplenty. Sidewalk vendors made their rounds selling goodies such as candy apples, cotton candy, popcorn, and much more. We brought money!  Participants of the parade ranged from dance studios to church groups to high school bands. There were firefighters,...

My first event at the new Vintage Motor Club at Gibson Mill in Concord, NC was the NorthEast Medical Center Foundation Fashion Show.  This was a great location for the event.   Southpaw Partners bought the 674,000 square foot facility in 2004.  Current occupants include Carolina Rustica, Shogren Hosiery and Medical Modalities.  Southpaw also plans to develop 32 key-man offices.  In addition, there is a 15,000 square foot banquet hall. This will be a great facility for social gatherings in Concord.  If you haven't seen it yet, we would encourage you to check it out.

Humpy Wheeler, president of Lowes Motor Speedway for the past 33 years, will be honored during the Concord Christmas Parade.  WHAT!  Humpy isn't even from Concord.  It used to be local legends that made up the Grand Marshal.  Truly respected and active citizens from around town.  Ones you see eating breakfast with the boys at the same joint every Wednesday morning or eating church hot dogs on Fridays for lunch.  This feels like just another ass kiss from Concord to the Speedway.  We already added the Bruton Smith Blvd name to the already named Speedway Blvd. and Concord Mills Blvd.  3 names for one street just to please an ego, come on.  And now one of our towns most secretly treasured spots is being outsourced to a speedway big wig, no doubt because Concord and Bruton are at odds with ...

Looks like A.L. BROWN, Kannapolis High School, is being showcased as a 21st Century Model of Innovation!  (I know a lot of Concord High School Spiders that would disagree!) Its is being showcased due to some up and coming programs such as: Mandarin Chinese, Biotechnology, Cyber Campus, Smartboards, International Studies. These are definetly step ups in the highschool arena.  And with the new North Carolina Research Campus and BioTechnology Center right in A.L. Browns backyard these programs are sure to be appreciated!   Below is a blurb from the wesbite: Tuesday, November 18 is North Carolina School Innovation Day, and A.L. Brown High School is one of the sites being highlighted.  A.L. Brown will be open to all visitors November 18 from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  No appointment is needed....

I was driving into Kannapolis this morning and saw a billboard.  It was an ad for www.2shoplocal.com for Cabarrus County.  So I jotted it and just looked it up.  It looks to be a collaborative effort put up by 3 banks.  It has sites for Stanly, Anson and Cabarrrus Counties, which I assume are the counties in which these banks serve.  I would consider this a green movement.  And I am all for it!  I love to see companies embrace this concept and promote it!  www.shoplocal.com is a good idea and everyone should shop local this holiday season if you can.  It cuts down on so much waste:  packaging, transportation, supports the local economy, etc.  I just submitted an email for my company to be included on this site.  If you are in Cabarrus County, Anson or Stanley you should do this too!

I'll be (selling a) Home for Christmas...fa la la la (edit/delete) Is it just me, or is the holiday season starting earlier and earlier each year?  I couldn't believe it.  The day after Halloween, I turned on my car radio and heard a Christmas song for the first time this season! Come on people, Thanksgiving hasn't even passed yet.   I have a love/hate relationship with the holidays.  I hate the hustle and bustle, but love the spirit that the season brings.  Many home sellers view the holiday season with dread.  Some actually withdraw their listings until after the New Year, while others won't even list until signs of Spring are in the air.  They worry about their home sitting on the market and getting stale while the buyers are out shopping for presents, drinking hot cocoa and going to...

Hi everyone!  Being new to Active Rain, I am still finding my way around this great service provided to us all.  I thought I'd take this opportunity to post and market myself a little bit. Todays blog will be about, yes, you guessed it!...Relocation. First off, a little about myself. My family and I relocated here in 2001 from New York. My wife had the chance to transfer with the company she works for and we took it. So I quit my job of 7 years, uprooted our 7 year old son from all he knew, packed up our little girls and moved to Concord NC. The house and area were beautiful but we soon came to realize that living out in "the boondocks" was a culture shock to say the least. After 3 years, I sold the house and we moved to Harrisburg (on the Charlotte border) while our new house was being...

Just got word that a new restaurant slated to open on Valentines Day 2009 in Downtown Concord will be named the Prince and the Pauper.  It will be located in the old Cabarrus Bank building across the street and to the right from the Historic Courthouse.  It will be continental fare in a fine dining atmosphere.  The rumor also is that there will be a bar in the basement (hopeully Irish or English in nature!) There are also 6 residential condos above the reastaurant that will be available.  Things are looking up for Downtown Concord!  Literally!

I caught the word yesterday that one of our communities local media outlets, The Concord Standard and Mount Pleasant Times, has shut its doors.  After the 24th publication of its 5th volume, this quais-popular newspaper which emphasized the Christian religion and made obituaries more personal and has been an outlet for real estate advertisiments is another casualty of the recession.  And also a casualty of the times.  Readership among all print media is down considerably  becasue of the turn towards Interent news outlets and blogs.  Why read the paper, or subscribe, when the news comes straight to your phone?  I don't know either.  This effect is also being seen in Real Estate specific publications such as The Real Estate Book and Centralina Homebuyers Guide.  It is obvious the toll of ...

I know we Realtors are always out and about in our community.  We are the eyes.  We aren't locked ina cubicle like so many in todays sociaety.  That is why I felt the need to post this entry.  Earlier this Fall, a man walked into Sun Drop Bottling Company on Branchview/Hwy 3 in Concord, NC and murdered 2 people in cold blood.  One worked there and the other was applying for a job.  This man got away and we are now searching for him.  Last I checked there was a $75,000 reward for his capture.  Please help our community get justice!  Thanks you! The attached composite is of an individual of interest that was seen first at the front door of Sun Drop before the doors were unlocked. Several individuals who witnessed an individual walking across Hwy 3 west on Cabarrus Ave after the incident w...

The Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce has set out to help stimulate the local economy this holiday season, and hopefully forever, by promoting $hop Cabarrus.  $hop Cabarrus is being promted through the Chamber via their website and mass emails to their network.  It is obviously promoting the idea that you should shop local for Christ mas this year.  And why not?  We all should be shopping local all of the time.  No need to hire a plane to travel around the world so that special someone can have a table cloth from Budapest or a blowfish lamp from Japan.  Just go to the chamber website to find the most up to date discounts and offerings available.  Merry Christmas! Here are the latest offerings: Company Name                               Offer to Chamber members  The Village Fudge................
