50 Shades of Gray, Maine This little town has a lot to offer   By day, this proper and sleepy little town would appear to follow all the rules. All outward appearances betray the deep yearning to be noticed...to be loved ...to be ...Ok I haven't read"50 Shades"., but you know where I am going with this. This proper New England Town is letting it's hair town and has a lot to offer it's residents and visitors. Like most places around this great country, Maine has an interesting relationship between rival towns and communities. Often "Insert name here"Jokes and stereotypes pop up and stick as good natured rivalry turns let's say competitive: The Battle of the Bridge rivalries sprung up in all our river straddling communities, Saco & Biddeford, Portland & South Portland, Lewiston & Auburn, ...

Visit the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray Maine.   I just heard on the news today that the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray has had decreased attendance recently.  My family had such a wonderful time there last year, so I thought I'd post some of their upcoming events.     The park is a definite must see!  You can read about our trip here. Visit their website for video and audio tours and ticket information. Here are the upcoming events.  I've already put the June 4th "The Ancient Ones" on my calendar.     Saturday May 21 Wind Over Wings Join this new-to-Maine nonprofit raptor education center to see & learn more about our feathered predators. If you have not yet been (or even if you have,) I would highly recommend taking a trip to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray Maine.  I went this past Saturday with my mother and my 7 year old son.    What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday, have fun, and learn about Maine's wildlife all at the same time.  The park is large enough to be able to spend several hours walking around the various paths and displays, but yet small enough that you won't be exhausted at the end of your visit.  There is even a picnic area and you can easily run back out to your car to grab a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park.  Click here to view a map of the Maine Wildlife Park. Located at 56 Game Farm Road, just off Route 26 in Gray, Maine, the park has an incredible array of Maine animals on display and educationa...

During the great sellers' market from 1998 to 2005, selection was below average to poor. Folks "from away" were disappointed with both the number and suitablity of lakefront properties on the market. Lakefront buyers were faced with inflated prices and poor selection. Did they refuse to buy? NO! They saw what was available, picked the best of a mediocre lot and moved ahead. During the height of the sellers market in the summer of 2004 there were four Long Lake lakefront homes on the market. FOUR! Keep in mind that Long Lake is 10 miles long and since there are 2 sides to the lake has over 20 miles of shoreline. Today there are forty-four Long Lake properties on the market - eleven times as much inventory! Now, with so much to choose from one would think that buyers would find making a b...

Improving your credit can be a long process, but it doesn't always have to be. Beware of programs or people who claim they can make drastic improvements in a short period of time. I have done a lot of research, and there are some things that can help. First, did you know that your credit scores, the actual numbers are not figured by the three major credit bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, Equifax). The scores you receive are derived from companies that banks or lenders use to pull the information from the major credit bureaus, like Landsafe, or Birchwood Credit. These companies take the information they get from the major credit bureaus and give you a score on all three. Depending on which company a bank uses, your scores can easily vary 40 or 60 points. Most lenders don't even know this i...

After you've finished searching for that perfect vacation home on Little Sebago Lake, Sabbathday Lake, Range Pond, or Crystal Lake, why not check out the wildlife at Maine Wildlife Park on Rte. 26 in Gray, Maine. The park, run by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, is home to more than 25 species of Maine wildlife. The towns of Gray and New Gloucester are lovely rural Maine towns that serve as bedroom communities for both Portland and Lewiston. Gray is a stop on the Maine Turnpike, just 15 miles north of Portland. New Gloucester has a village center comprised of early 19th century buildings that say a lot about this community's sense of history and preserving the past. Lakes and ponds found in these towns are Little Sebago Lake, Sabbathday Lake, Crystal Lake, Notched Pond, and a little piece of Upper Range Pond. Little Sebago is the largest and most popular. Sabbathday, Crystal, and Upper Range are smaller, but still have very good water quality and are great for all water recreation. Notched Pond is small and shallow, but provides an entry level for waterfront buyers with smaller pocketbooks. Her...

The most important decision you will make in the sale of your home is the REALTOR® you choose. Be sure to find someone you feel comfortable with. If you don't feel you can ask questions or go to your REALTOR®, you have the wrong person. Your REALTOR® should show you research to back up any recommendations. This includes information about recent sales, current listings, and recently expired listings in your neighborhood.   Watch out for agents who try to "buy" your listing.  This is when a realtor will tell you your home is worth a lot more than it is likely to sell for. The key to catching this is being involved in the Market Analysis and making sure the comparable homes the realtor is using are sold homes and that the adjustments they make to the sold prices are reasonable and realisti...
