Standish Shores, Duxbury The Standish Shores neighborhood is a private, quiet peninsula in Duxbury. Captain Myles Standish lived here, in an area that was known in the 1600s as the Nook. Now a monument to Captain Standish stands in the middle of a state park bearing his name on Standish Shores. The monument is visible to boats and helps mariners navigate the waters off Duxbury and Plymouth Bay. Standish Road forms a loop, connecting with Crescent Street. The other main road, Marshall Avenue, dead ends near the shoreline. Standish Road empties into the traffic circle at Hall's Corner. It occupies the center of the shoreline in Duxbury, with Bay Road to the south and Washington Street to the north. Standish Shores is residential.
