Lake Havasu Citywill be the starting point for the 2012 Air Race Classic. Sponsored by the Rio Colorado 99s, this race pits female pilots against one another in a 2400 mile trek from Lake Havasu City, AZ to Batavia, OH. The female pilots only race during daylight hours in clear weather. They have four days to complete their journey. This Friday and Saturday (June 15th & 16th), all Lake Havasu residents are welcome to meet the pilots as they get their planes inspected by race officials at the Lake Havasu City Muncipal Airport. A welcome reception will be held in the racers' honor at the Hampton Inn on Saturday evening. Tickets for the dinner will be $25.
