As long as they are so low, an upward trend is inevitable at some time.

At best a slight change and sometimes short term rates are affected more. The Fed rates are just one piece of this but not the whole piece.

Rates will bump up, but not slow down the market. We are used to abnormally low rates and even with a bump they will remmain low!

Sam Shueh we all know rates are up by 0.25%. Let's see how it impacts the mortgage rates....

The bigger question for us is how any actions by the US Fed will affect interest rates and the economy in Canada.

Hmmm. Should I bet when I already know the answer?

My guess is 2. Stay put.
Reasoning: It's right before Christmas and they wouldn't want to do anything to risk a drop in consumer spending for the biggest spending season. Additionally, since the election season is starting, I'm not sure they really want to look like they're playing politics.

I hope the FED gets smart on this. I don't believe the market will sustain a rate increase right now.

I think it will increase. My crystal ball isn't always reliable.

I think the timing would be bad to raise it right now. Come January is a better time to take action on this and I believe it would be a HIKE.

Spoke to my fav lender earlier this week, and knowing the rates will increase, the interest rate has already increased a bit.

I think they will be raised but just a little.

My only comment is that the economy is still too weak to play with

I predict a small increase in mortgage interest rates but my crystal ball is out of order this morning.

Sam Shueh All indications are the Fed will raise the rate a little. We'll know after today.

The Fed has been playing a smoke & mirrors game for many years and I do not think the stars have aligned yet to make any significant changes

I think, it is just a beginning. It will go up again and maybe again. They have no choice but hike it.
3,988,013
I think they will go up slightly. as you said the markets have already reacted.
