If you change brokerages every six months, you need to keep updating your online presence, print collateral, signage and more. It can get expensive.

Changing every six months seems unpractical. What happens to listings and active buyer contracts? It would have an undesirable effect on buyers and sellers and overall make the agent seem unstable.

I own my own company, so this is not a thought any more.

I can't imagine the chaos that would result and then you have to keep changing business cards, stationery, signs, etc. All of that can end up costing big time.

An agent who would do that does not sound like a stable person, more of a nomad. Not sure too many buyers or sellers would like to hire an agent of this caliber.

No without hesitation! If you are on the move that much, you probably have no business!

Good morning Tony. Moving around from one company to another is never very smart.

Well, I 'd like to know more terms of that agreement. That is not enough information.

Find a brokerage offering no desk fee, no franchise fee. Flat commission.
Where I am I have a spacious cubical, phone-no charge. I pay E&O and $100/mo. I have gym, shower, under ground parking free.

No because that wouldn't make up for the number of clients that would lose where I was and wonder why I kept changing

When I was newly licensed trying to figure things out I moved five times in two and half years. Now I'm at Sothebys a year and half until they sell us and then hopefully can still stay.

Not unless they are doing something bad to push me out. It is a lot of work to change brokerages, updating websites, print material the costs could add up to more then just some free rent. Not to mention if you have a lot of listings it could become a big mess.

No, there is a lot more to running a business than rent and franchise fees.

Tony,
That is way too much trouble and sounds like a bad idea. Your clients would wonder why you are always changing brokerages. Glad I own my own little shop.

Tony Lewis I am not sure why would one want to do this every six months.
One can save money perhaps - depending on the agreement one can get from new company. How about spending money on changing your marketing material, brand etc?
And what about stability?

I've never heard of anyone changing companies every 6 months for any reason..... with that track record, no broker would hire them....

I, too, am with REMAX and I would leave if the right opportunity was presented.
I would NEVER leave based on the perception of lower costs.
Those who flit from broker to broker every year are simply trying to find a exit from the business.

I had same reaction as Marc Swartz, CPA, CA, Real Estate Broker and I'll add that the customer would see no continuity, so I would think that's a really bad idea.

There is no way I would change Brokerages every six months. You would lose so much business, because people would not know where you are.
2,249,294
No , everytime you move there is a minimum of 90 days of confusion and reduced income !!!!!!!!!!
5,275,787
Absolutely not! It's not all about money..its finding the culture that best suits you..once you find it..you won't be enticed away by incentives like free rent or no franchise fees..you think of your clients and giving them the best service! Changing brokerage companies every six months would not be practical!!

Good Wednesday morning Tony. I am not too sure about your state, but it costs agents $25 to move their licenses. Is it worth it?
