I aways keep the wage low with a bonus in months when she/he helps the company to excel.

Yes, but keep in mind that not all assistants are a "her".

I would suppose it depends on her work performance and what you're paying her.

An argument can be made for this, but it does depend on what you are paying your assistant. I had one in NYC who has a broker's license and didn't want to sell. I paid her nothing, but 5% of each commission and she made more money than many full-time agents in the office (and was very happy and loyal).

Will - You can certainly start with a regular wage and then tie some sort of bonus based on performance/meeting certain goals/revenue generated.

Will,
It depends how you assess the situation. I would start with a regular salary to begin with, and she how it works out, and then if it does, think bonus. A

Thats your call. Depends on how valuable the assistant is to you and how busy your business is.

Bonus arrangements are great incentives. However, I would wait to see some performance before offering additional incentives.

Assistants eligible for bonus are those on the consumer contact lead generation and conversion tasks. No bonus for the assistant who edits the video tours and writes and creates the fliers.
A questioner yesterday was considering paying a telephone assistant $1,200 for every closed deal. Now that is a over the top bonus. That persons phone should be burned up with all the incoming requests to 'help' make those call.

No, that should be based upon the quality of work. It can be an incentive?
Excellent question Will.
