The 15th Annual Rockville Centre St. Patrick's Parade begins at noon on Saturday, March 19.  The parade starts from Maple Avenue and Long Beach Road and will proceed to the reviewing stand in front of St. Agnes Cathedral. Chat Noir is a great french style tea house located at 230 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre NY.  It is a wonderful change to the usual hustle and bustle lunch and dinner restaurants located in the Village of Rockville Centre.  Just recently Newday a Long Island newspaper rated Chat Noir one of the top ten affordable new eateries on Long Island and with the amount of new restaurants opening on Long Island that is quite a stellar recognition.  I have eaten there on a number of occasions and I was always impressed with the menu and the wait staff.  It is a cozy spot to stop in for lunch or dinner and the food was great.  If you find yourself in Rockville Centre NY and looking for something other than a burger try Chat Noir.   01/03/2011

52 Weeks of Things to Do - In and Around Rockville Centre - Week #1 - Golfing at Bay Park    Golf - What a great sport. We do have some great courses to get you started and once you have mastered the game we also have beautiful courses to challenge the  more advanced player. Bay Park, a 9 hole golf course, surrounded by water, offers a great way for the beginner golfer to practice their skills. Rockville Centre NY Annual 10K (6.2 mile) road race and the new 5K (3.1 mile) race will begin on Saturday, November 13 at 10 am.  The starting line is on Park Avenue between Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway opposite the Fantasy Theater.  You can register for the race at Village Hall, One College Place and the cost is $28 for the 10K and $22 for the 5K.  The course is flat and fast and the race will be run rain or shine. There is also a Family Fun Run which begins at 9 am on Front Street in front of the LIRR train station.  The entry fee for the Fun Run is $9.  For further information please call 516-678-9339.   You do not need to be a resident of the Village to participate in the race. 10/28/2010

Rockville Centre Parks and Recreation Department or better known to the people who live in town as "The Rec" offers programs for all ages, as well as community rooms, tennis courts, basketball courts and fields that are used for soccer and lacrosse. There are a variety of programs from Art Classes, to Dancing Classes, to Pre -School. It is a great place for a new family to immerse themselves into the Rockville Centre Community.   Mr. Tony Brunetta, or better known by the children as "Mr. B." is the Superintendent of the Parks and Recreation Center. He has done a wonderful job of serving the community and offering the variety of programs for all ages. The Rockville Centre NY Annual Costume Parade and Party will be held on October 31st in Rockville Centre NY.  Children from pre K and up and parents are welcome to attend.  All participants must register at the Recreation Center.  The cost is $7 per family. The parade will start at the Village Green on Maple and Lee Avenue at 2 pm and proceed down Maple Avenue to the Recreation Center on Oceanside Road.  It's a great family day and the parents and kids are so creative with the themes and costumes.  At the Recreation Center there will be games and prizes for everyone. In case of rain, the parade will be canceled but the party will still be held at 3 pm.     10/23/2010

Every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. till noon there is a farmers market in Rockville Centre NY on the corner of Long Beach Road and Sunrise Highway right by the train trestle.  It is such a great place to get locally grown fresh fruits and vegetable.  There is a fisherman there with the most wonderful fresh caught fish, a bread stand, some local wineries, Also there is an incredible stand with home made pasta and ravioli from Brooklyn, yummy. This is a great thing to do on a Sunday morning and the prices are so affordable.  So nice to be a stones throw from NYC and have a farmers market.      08/01/2010

The Annual Rockville Centre NY Fireworks Display will be on Sunday, July 11, 2010.  The Festivities will start in the early evening with the South Shore Symphony and conclude around 9 pm with a spectacular display over historic Mill River on the south side of the Village of Rockville Centre.
