Studio Condo Taken Over by Squatters…No bedroom, no bathroom and no kitchen only a den but the theme is “Free is for me”!! In New Hampshire’s “Live Free or Die – State” there is a wild bunch moving in next door to me. Water front, Private and awesome views...for free!   Waterfront with great mountain views no condo fees or utilities…but strong swimming skills are required to retain squatter’s rights at this humble abode.      neighborhood not acceptable for two legged tenants...squatters are welcome, no rent or utilities required   It has been nearly impossible to evict these over-sized rodents as they generally hide when the authorities are around. I took this picture this morning (like a lot of mornings) on the Kancamagus National Forest Scenic highway. But something was a bit different the leaves seem to form a heat shape. I would have loved this shot either way, but this is a pretty nice way to start the day.          Unless you have traveled through Lincoln N.H.  before, these Indian names will be foreign to you:   The Kancamagus scenic hignway connects Lincoln to Conway New Hampshire...and is 35 miles of wilderness with periodic look out points along the way. Here is one on the scenic stops where you can pull over and take a photo.      Also running along the Kanc (as the locals call it) is the Pemigewasset River...name for the Pemigewasset Indian tribe that once inhabited the area...Here after called the "Pemi".    Looking east on the Pemi.   Another look out point facing west...as the sun is coming up in the east.            One of the North facing views...with the sun behind the shot to the south the colors really glow.           Columbus Day Weekend is always a busy time for a trip ove... 10/04/2010

    I started near my house and took a few shots of the rivers, Brook and streams on my way to work...closest to home is the Glover Brook in Woodstock NH. These sites are all with in 5 miles of Lincoln & Woodstock NH.  The next stop Cascades Park Across from the Woodstock Station, in the Village of Woodstock NH. West branch   Next Stop the Bridge to Loon Mountain Ski Area Rte 112 Lincoln East Branch of the Pemigewasset River.   There will be plenty of water for the snow making guns on the ski slopes...we hear them in about a month.            Last Stop the Flume gorge at the start of Franconia State park, Lincoln New Hampshire     The board walk at Flume Gorge was closed for a time due to safety concerns of this rushing water.      With all this beauty comes a sad story too...A man is m... 10/02/2010

Weird rain plagued us last night. The air felt tropical, which is strange this far up in New Hampshire. It poured and poured last night, I took this photo of the pond in my back yard this morning and the one below came from a recent shot before the rain moved in.   That is full one very full pond.                   Water is up 6-7 feet since this morning    This is the average fall look of the pond. I took this photo September 27th...three days ago...but it has rained 4 inches since then and we are expecting 4 more today....The picture below is the same location October 1st...9:15 am. When the rain lets up there will be no evidence of the shore-line, the water will be up in to the roots of the trees along the banks of the Pemigewasset river.If I get the chance I will add a follow up sho... 10/01/2010

As I look across the street these trees struck me as being out of order...not the normal before and after shot. Nature has it's own way of changing the order of things it doesn't always conform to what we expect. My Real estate office is on the Kancamagus Scenic highway, and so are some of my fury and feathered friends, come to see the foliage and you may get more than you bargained for.      A little patriotic foliage, with the soon to be white ski slopes peaking out in the background. I get a kick out of the retailers who try to force consumers to buy early as if they will run out of inventory? I was in a local store over Labor day and they were putting out Halloween Candy...Really Come on!! Kids are back to school, but the heat remains 94 in Northern NH today...what the hell. I was bent and determined to hit the river on such an Unusually hot Day in the Mountains. My wife was off to some art classes out of state, our son with new car...graces us for food and shelter. Even though it was really warm for September 1st...I decided I was free and going to play golf. There are some nice spots along the river that the golf course runs. I was here to play not swim, The wish was no swimming for my golf balls as well (if you catch my drift). the river was as clear as glass today...Hurricanes near the coast but hardly a breath of air here. I wanted to knock out a hike before I spend 3 hours in the office...So a quick trip up Bald Knob in Fanconia Notch State Park. Cannon Mountain in the back ground with its ski trails may look strange to you, but I'm not ready for the white stuff just yet. Phone calls, emails, and a listing presentations...then off for the rest of the day, I work in the White Mountain Vacation home business Near Loon Mountain ski area...So Wednesday and Thursday are my Weekends. I have to mow about 5 acres with a brush cutter ever couple of weeks so time to hit the field.   The Kancamagus…It’s much harder to say than it is to drive, with the exception of the winter (then it’s an even match). This 26.5 mile road that runs East to West – Conway to Lincoln there are no commercial buildings along the entire route, if you start on either end your tank had better not be near empty. The first point of interest along the route is the Lincoln-Woods ranger station. It is noted for the cable bridge that spans the Pemigewasset river (another tongue twister), and was built along an old railroad bed used long ago in the timber and paper mills. The trail head at Lincoln woods allows hikes to access the famous Appalachian mountain trail.
