My wife and I recently watched "The Informant" - a movie starring Matt Damon.  The movie is based on a true story about a whistleblower at Archer Daniels Midland, a company in Decatur, Illinois. The main character travels around the world and at one point he attends a meeting in Hawaii.  The meeting and a golf outing take place at the Makaha Valley Country Club in West Oahu.  In a golf scene the Makaha Valley Towers are a backdrop to the characters walking along the course.  When you see the movie, keep an eye out for the Towers 'cause you'll only see them for a few seconds. When Hawaii's housing market turns downward, the outlying locations seem to get hurt the worst.  Why is this?  Probably because areas like Waianae have less good jobs compared to Honolulu neighborhoods.  Also, when the market begins to recover, people look to the future and where there's room for growth - West Oahu! Hiking the Waianae Range of Western Oahu, Hawaii  Most visitors to Oahu rarely make it out of Waikiki and even fewer still make it to the Leeward coast, whose wild and wooley reputation keeps even the city locals at bay. Another Hawaii Relocation tidbit of information that may come in handy if you're relocating to Hawaii and may be sightseeing along the Northwest Shore of Oahu.   Located right past Keeau Beach Park on the Waianae Coast of Oahu is Makua Cave.  Long before it was "nicknamed" Makua Cave it was known as Kaneana(Ka knee ah na) or better known as the Cave of the Kane(Ka knee or man; male)  At 150,000 years old and once was underwater...carved by the sea. Sanding 100 feet high and 450 feet deep we really didn't feel it necessary to walk into the depths of the darkness that enfolded us immediately after passing the mouth of the cave.   Okay. (tax map key 187).Maili Single family homes sales volume has been down from the 2006 levels, year to date.  In November we saw an increase of activity over the same period in 2006.  The average sales prices were the reverse.  Average price down a little in November, but up year to date.
