The following is the 1st quarter 2013 Real Estate Market Report for the City of Rolling Hills Estates, including the unincorprated area known as Palos Verdes Peninsula adjacent to the City. The number of homes for sale has decreased over the last several months to only 13 homes on the market at the end of the 1st quarter, 48% lower than this time last year. Sales increased substantially in the first quarter compared to last quarter to an average of 9 homes sold per month, which is a 50% increase over a year ago, and with 12 homes in escrow at the end of the quarter. The Norris Center For The Perming Arts, will present its 27th annual community variety benefit show called “Rhythm vs Romance."  This year's production will be staged as though it was an entertaining "seminar" on musical education.  The "Professor" Victor Anythong will explore "Rhythm vs Romance" in hopes of discovering which type of music is superior.  Act II, the support group for the theatre, will feature top local talent from young children to seniors.  There will be over 100 singers and dancers performing at the show.  All of the money raised will go for outreach projects of the Norris Center For The Performing Arts.  The performances for Saturday & Sunday, on March 15 & 16, 2013, are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday the 17th  will be at 2:00 p.m.  Complimentary wine will be served on open...

  There has been a lot of local feedback as to the current problems with retailers on the Peninsula. There are numerous vacancies in both the Peninsula Center as well as the Avenue of the Peninsula shopping mall. Developers have never understood that they should be targeting value oriented retailers, not high end stores on the Peninsula. When I first moved here from Manhattan Beach 28 years ago, I remember then people referring to the Peninsula as "hamburger hill", meaning that the residents tended to be frugal, with many of them having bought their homes in the 1960's or '70's when prices were reasonable.
