Los Angeles is in the middle of another March heat wave.  We are having another run of days with the thermometer topping 90 degrees.  The beaches will be overflowing with people this weekend.  Air conditioners will be humming and backyard pools will be in enjoyed as well.   When I first moved to Palos Verdes over 25 years ago we usually "opened" our pool for my middle son's birthday in late April and "closed" it after my youngest son's mid-September birthday.  I don't recall ever swimming in March, but this year summer seems to have arrived early enough for a March morning dip or afternoon lounge poolside.   If you're in the market to purchase or sell a Palos Verdes home with a pool, this early heat wave will have people in the mood to consider buying a home with a private pool for the...

There are 38 homes listed homes listed for sale in the City of Palos Verdes Estates at the end of February, which is 3% greater than this time a year ago. The number of homes sold over the last 3 months, averaging 10 sales per month, is down 17% compared to the same period last year . Those were my words when we rounded a curve and this view popped into my line of vision on a glorious view day in Palos Verdes.  We simply had to park the car and capture the view. Views are an integral part of the Palos Verdes lifestyle, and it's not hard to understand why once you are treated to sights like this view of the Queen's Necklace.  The curve of the land where water meets sand and is greeted by twinkling city lights is such a bejeweled vision it earned the name of Queen's Necklace.  It is certainly ranked among the most royal and sought after views on the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula. Luxury is difficult to define and quantify as its definition varies from person to person and location to location.  However, for the purpose of this article I consider Palos Verdes properties sold in excess of $2,000,000 to fall into the luxury home category. During January six Palos Verdes luxury single family homes sold in excess of $2M.  The sale prices ranged from a low of $3,017,000 for a home in the gated community of Vantage Point in Rolling Hills Estates, to $15,550,000 paid for a gated estate of over 2-acres on Via Visalia in Palos Verdes Estates.
