Maybe I'm out of the loop living in such a rural area, but today is the first I've heard of backpage.com.  I've advertised on craigslist without much luck.  Have any agents had any luck advertising in multiple cities on backpage.com? Is backpage.com becoming as popular as craigslist?

For sale by owners usually prove why real estate professionals are needed.  Yesterday I met with a for sale by owner in Hertford, NC, he is one of four brothers who inherited their mother's home after she passed away in June 2008.  They have been trying to sell the house for $120,000, but the hom...

Hertford Is The Best Kept SecretIn Northeastern North Carolina    Hertford, the seat of Perquimans County, is on Albemarle Sound nestled on the shores of the meandering Perquimans River. It is the quintessential sleepy river town steeped in history, and is served by State highway 37, just off US ...

We just conducted a successful estate auction this past Saturday.  We sold a 3 bedroom 3 bath home, an additional lot, and personal property in Plymouth, NC.  The seller approached us a couple of months ago and wanted to sell his mother's personal property and list the house for sell.  However af...

I don't know if this blog will offer anything tangible and it may just turn into a rant.  I accepted a BPO on a home in the most rural county in North Carolina.  The home was in bad condition and located in the middle of nowhere.  All of this is fine with me as I grew up just one County over.  Fi...

Fellow ActiveRain members, I'm at the office trying to do my second BPO.  There is a part that has been a bit perplexed.  It's the Repair Addendum "Estimated Repair Work to put the Subject Property into "Repaired" condition (following FHA Guidelines).  I've googled and yahooed FHA.com, FHA guidel...

Like a lot of Real Estate Agents I've been struggling lately.  Most of the year I couldn't complain, but it seems as if our market has gone completely dead.  I've been a little depressed and thought about going back to Real Estate part-time, but I decided to get tough instead over this past weeke...

I live in Hertford, NC in Perquimans County. I work a large area listing and selling properties in Washington, Tyrrell, Chowa, Bertie, and Perquimans counties. This may seem crazy to agents in big cities, but we generally lack stoplights in my area of NC. If I drive 30 minutes I've travelled 30 miles. This area of NC is too rural to simply serve one town or community. I may put a lot of miles on my vehicle, but at least I'm not stuck in traffic.
