In the past week, finally, one lady stepped up and said she was beginning to prepare for our class reunion, seems no one else is. I said I am happy to help. Now I have called many telephone numbers.I am finding my attitude on life is better than most. Also, I am finding classmates who are too ill or have given up on life. What is wrong with just one time getting out for one dinner with people in many cases that you have not seen since 1963?It is a sales job I am beginning to see, to convince some of them to change their mind and come to the reunion. And I am enjoying it. I was also given a list of those who are no longer with us. People who were in the band with me, in typing class with me, and are no more! Some even passed away many years ago!  And then also Natellia called me the day ...

This Week…Time Lost Here we go again. Spring it forward!  So from what I’m told, we’re losing one hour. OK, but if I get up at 6 am, for example, is it really 5 or 7?    The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once. Albert EinsteinWhat happens to that lost hour?    You may delay, but time will not. Benjamin FranklinAnother question…you know the TV guides that tell you what’s going to be on and when?  Well…does one program that’s supposed to come on at 2 AM Sunday just disappear??Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you. Carl SandburgIt’s Saturday so you still have some time to do something with that hour you’re about to lose! Don’t waste it!...

Yesterday a Robin Redbreast flew by me. Since I was a youth it always excited me to see my first robin of the new year. It signified Spring is coming and almost here! The snow seems to be melting off all the neighbor's yards except ours. AND we're possibly getting more snow on Monday BUT nothing stops Daylight Savings from happening or for Spring to break out. Finally, we will have broken through to the beginning of Spring. The official date of the Equinox is March 20th but we all consider DLS the beginning of Spring. (well, I do)So, we will Spring forward on Sunday, March 12 and we won't look back. Don't forget or you'll be late for church on Sunday...lol. Also, make sure you test your Smoke/CO detectors. Note: 5 days later it will be St. Patrick's Day soon to be followed by Easter. It'...

I have often said that the reason God did not give me hair is because he knew what I would do with it. I probably would have gone the spiky look and with sky blue for color... it's better that I'm bald.If you are considering things to do this weekend I'll put bowling out there. We went a few weeks ago and everyone had fun. The lanes were packed but it wasn't the bowling I used to do when I was in a league.   First of all it's all under black light. Second, you better like loud music. Third, don't expect any bowling edicate.I'm sure they have "normal" bowling during leagues and week days but weekends are something else... and we all had a lot of fun with it.Also, when I was truly a bowler there was somewhat of a proper attire. I will just cut this short and say, not anymore...

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME Although, it doesn’t feel like Spring in the Kenosha and Racine areas this morning with 5+ inches of snow overnight, don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday March 12, 2023  at 2:00 am!What was the original reason for Daylight Savings Time?DST (daylight savings time) started in the United States with the Standard Time Act of 1918, a wartime measure for seven (7) months during World War I in the interest of adding more daylight hours to conserve energy resources. The idea of aligning waking hours in daylight hours to conserve candles was first proposed in 1784 by U.S. Benjamin Franklin.  In a satirical letter to the editor of The Journal of Paris, Franklin suggested that waking up earlier in the summer would economize on candle usage; and calculated ...

Thursday was a day of flying, as you cannot get here without a stop, it is a small town.    Stopped for a short bit in Houston, and was there back in 2015 when I went to Costa Rica, but don't remember it being such a neat airport.   Got off in the E Terminal, and there was a restaurant/bar in the middle of the walkway that was absolutely gorgeous.   I didn't want to stop and take a photo, as only had so much time to get to terminal B, and didn't want to  miss my connecting flight. AND, it was certainly a "puddle jumper".    Only two seats on one side, and one seat on the other.    We weren't in the air long, as I flew into Corpus Christi, and my friend drove up to pick me up.    It was about 2.5 hour's drive into McAllen.   I was thinking it would be an itty bitty town, but really it is...

Friday Flags:  2 Targets to Aim ForGolf is my addiction and at times my affliction. Coming to the end of our vacation and knowing it would be at least another month before I get to play back home, I reached my last hole with some sadness.Looking down the fairway, I was trying to spot the green's pin location as a way of targeting my next shot.Looking up, it became very obvious, as if the flag needed a big friend to be spotted. It was an easy target to see, and it felt good even though the wind was blowing pretty hard.Made the par and walked away with the comfort of knowing I would be in good shape when I next played.Friday Flags:  2 Targets to Aim For

Guess who is Coming for Dinner? Squirrel stew, jelly beans, & hoecakes: The presidents' favorite foods! Presidents of the United States have had some eccentric choices for favorite foods. So take heed this is what was served for dinner if one wanted to impress the President who happened to coming over for dinner. From squirrel stew to cheeseburger pizza, these commanders in chief didn't let their time at America's most famous address change their tastes.  Presidents have hundreds of staff members to cater to their every whim during their time in the White House. Though the Executive Mansion hosts some of the country's most exclusive and upscale dinners, each president has different tastes for their everyday fuel. The recorded favorites of each president seem to stem from choices made by...

Friday Fun…Call Me Crazy Yes, call me crazy but I love the sound of bagpipes!  I have no idea why but when I hear bagpipes, I stop what I’m doing and listen. (full disclosure…I have an app that plays bagpipe music) And today is International Bagpipe Day!Years ago there was a piper on the beach in Delray who welcomed the sunrise with his beautiful music. The first time I heard it, I wasn’t sure if God was calling me home or what!  Larry and I continued to enjoy his beautiful music whenever he was in town.  And, appropriately, this week, Brian England introduced us to the AR Men in Kilts Trio!                            Hope you enjoy my Friday Fun!  Feel free not to listen to the pipes…I’ll understand!! LOLNew Rule: Stop calling bagpipes a musical instrument. They're actually a Scottish ...

The best home loan option with bad credit depends on how low your score is. If your score is below 600, you probably should look into an FHA loan or VA loan.Of course, the best option is to work on repairing your credit score before you submit a mortgage application. While this is not the answer borrowers want to read or hear, it’s the most practical and can save you thousands in interest payments. Not only will you have more mortgage options, but you might be able to get your loan with a lower income requirement and down payment.Of course, as stated above, if you have a score of 500 or below, you probably won’t be able to do anything except wait until you increase it. Also, if you’re looking to buy a house with a bankruptcy on your credit, you will need to wait at least 2 years before ...

This one is an absolute favorite. We tried it once ages ago, and the kids went bonkers for it. Since these are made with chicken or turkey, and they’re baked instead of fried, they’re ever so slightly on the more healthy side (don’t worry, the butter in the wing sauce makes up for that, but you gotta live, right?!). Since first making these and given how much we all love them, they’ve become a great go-to for a quick dinner or serving as appetizers at a party. We often double or triple the recipe as they go quickly. We hope you try it and we hope you love it as much as we do! Meatballs 1 pound ground chicken or turkey ½ cup breadcrumbs 2 stalks celery, finely chopped 2 scallions, finely chopped 1 clove garlic, finely chopped 1 tablespoon hot sauce (we prefer Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo sauc...

If you missed Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! question a few days ago you can find it HERE. It has inspired other posts and certainly caused many laughs and chuckles. It has also given me a good reason to share this (the above) cartoon by Timmothy.I think most of us have seen something at a listing or possible listing that made us lose or almost lose our lunch. Number one for me was a cat story as is/was Wanda's but mine was a "Cat Person's" home where every wall in the good sized two story home were urine soaked from 3' down and most of the woodwork was used as scratching posts with one support beam in the basement being whittled down to the size of a pencil. We have always been a "with pet(s)" family. The kids had a dog even before they were born and fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, and bi...
