A good neighbor can be a source of continual joy. The Bible even says, "Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away." For when one is need- whether to borrow an egg, get a ride or help with a physical task-one's neighbor nearby is a better, more accessible and practical blessing than a family member far away.September 28 is National Good Neighbor Day, a day to celebrate those folks we call good neighbors. While it used to be celebrated on the fourth Sunday in September, it now has it's own official date annually of September 28th.Here is a brief history of Good Neighbor Day. Back in the 1970's, Mrs. Becky Mattson from Lakeside, Montana, recognizing the important of good neighbors, initiated an effort to make this a National Day.With help from congressman Mike Mansfield, she succ...

My vision board has a couple of short term things on it that I am about ready to hit.  It has been a long vision on one of them but it is coming true now.  Of course I have some other vision on there that will take awhile yet to get there.Hope next year is a trip to Ireland, Do you have a vision board?  My vision board came about because of the book The Secret!.  It may me to rethink somethings from my early years and may me to go for what I wanted. If you do not have one, start one today.

Tuna Noodle Casserole with Spinach & Artichokes... well it was Friday, and I wanted to do a twist on an old recipe our parents used to make. The ingredients were, fresh baby spinach, frozen Artichoke Hearts, garlic, and of course egg noodles.Oh, and let me not forget three cans of tuna, some butter, some olive oil and some milk and a bit of flour. If you are interested, I can do a full-blown recipe.  The key once everything was done to bake it in the oven for about 25 minutes at about 425 degrees and that will bring the meal up to the next level. Especially if you add some panko bread crumps on top with some shredded parmesan cheese.  Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, focused and goal-oriented Realtor in the Be...

Every year on September 28th, and this year on Friday September 28, 2024, neighbors around the nation celebrate unofficial National Good Neighbor Day to acknowledge importance of good neighbors. In 2003, National Good Neighbor Day was changed from the fourth Sunday in September to September 28.Generally, neighbors become friends, watch out for each other, gather together for events, and a neighborhood becomes a large family.National Good Neighbor Day was created in the 1970's by Becky Mattson of Lakeside, Montana. In 1978 United States President Jimmy Carter issued Proclamation 4601: “As our Nation struggles to build friendship among the peoples of this world, we are mindful that the noblest human concern is concern for others. Understanding, love, and respect build cohesive families and...

This Week…Neighbors Yes, there is a day for this…National Good Neighbor Day. President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, signed Proclamation 4601, which urges citizens, groups, and corporations to observe this day.  The impersonal hand of government can never replace the helping hand of a neighbor. Hubert H. HumphreyThrough our many moves, Larry and I have been very lucky. We are still good friends with our next door neighbors from our first home. Our first neighbors in Delray Beach became our extended family.  One of my neighbors in Orlando helped me take out the dead armadillo by dog brought in through the doggie door!!     There is a law that man should love his neighbor as himself. In a few hundred years it should be as natural to mankind as breathing or the upright gait; but if he does not le...

Northwest MLS #2281152, Listed by Aimee Mills, Windermere RE North, Inc. Luxury Home Features, On Tour Wow did I have an incredible opportunity to go on tour of one of the nicest and well-built homes that I have seen in 20 years. This home was in Redmond and I had the opportunity to both tour it and bring my real estate coaching group, Encore, along too! When I say this home was well-built, spectacularly memorable - I'm not just saying it's just a beautiful design style and landscaping. A beautiful luxury home is a home that when you arrive at the home you have a feeling. The home makes a statement. It has a personality. It speaks to you. We're going to talk quality in a moment, but first I want to talk about location. When we first arrived at the home, I couldn't help but take notice o...

5 Places I would go if I had a time machine: 1.  Burlington City, New Jersey--1890'sI love our little city on the Delaware, and I would love to see it in this era, and what the riverfront looked like back then.  And of course there would be less people, buildings and everything.  I would want to explore this grid of streets which was the inspiration for Philadelphia. 2.  Trenton, New Jersey, 1776Oh my, the idea of seeing and walking the routes to the battle of Trenton,  when it was still such a young town, moments before General Washington lead his troops there is exciting.   I was born in Trenton and raised in neighboring Hamilton.   3.  Hamilton, New Jersey 1939I would love to peek in on my mom and dad when they were kids, age 7.  I miss them both and love them both so dearly.  How co...

Friday Flags Patriotic Prospect CT Pool Supply StoreAlong the business corridor in Prospect are several offices and small businesses. At the front of one is a flag to identify the business as loyal to our country. The angle at which it hangs makes it difficult to get a shot of in full flutter, but regardless, it is there for all to see and just maybe catch an eye to let people know the owners are proud Americans. The hurricane running through the south will make an impact here in CT this weekend, Maybe I can catch a shot when the wind is blowing. Friday Flags Patriotic Prospect CT Pool Supply Store

Friday Fun…Boo! It’s Friday so time for some fun!  Since tomorrow is National Ghost Hunting Day, I thought I’d see who here has seen or been close to a ghost!Did you know that roughly 41% of Americans believe in ghosts... but only 20% have seen one? When I was growing up, we all had slumber parties. Before turning in for the night, we sat around and told ghost stories. My aunt had huge Mah-jong parties and I remember one of her friends was the Counsel General from China. (Not sure of the title but he was from over there and stationed here) All of us loved it when he’d take us off in the corner and share ghost stories from “the old country.” I have never turned down the opportunity to listen to someone’s personal ghost story!  So for some Friday Fun…do you believe in ghosts or spirits???...

I thought I'd take a look (search the web) to see if there are any animals that do not sleep. There is at least 10, Man is not one. Neither are guinea pigs.I am a very scheduled person. In general I get out of bed at the same time every day and start my routine of personal hygiene, go to work, eat lunch, go back to work and on and on until it's bed time at 10:00 PM. Pretty boring, I know but my routine works well for me, my family, and my dog. 😊 As far North as we live the sun may still be up for another hour or it may have set nearly six hours prior. As organized/scheduled as I am I should move to the equator where the sunrise and sunset are more regular. Now with the onset of Winter and daylight saving time about to begin I will be able to watch the sunset at 4:00 PM.

A person's word should mean something. NO is definitely a word were someone has chosen a side. What can you say to someone who says NO? If you are selling something, NO can mean to try another approach to get the NO to weaken. This comes dangerously close to arguing which is where the nonprofessionals take it. The word NO has to be respected yet in consumer interaction it is also an implied invitation tooSALESPEOPLE SEE IT AS AN OPPORTUNITYNO when given can mean so many things and that is why people do not take that sound or word seriously. It can mean not now, I have to go, I didn't bring my checkbook, I am not feeling well, I don't want to be bothered, and I am not ready.... just to name a few. That is why some people take NO to mean GO and keep running with it.NOTE THIS: The word YES...

Here are five ways to make your bedroom feel larger without knocking down any walls! 1. Choose Light, Neutral Paint Colors One of the easiest ways to make a bedroom feel larger is by choosing the right paint colors. Light, neutral shades work wonders at opening up a space. Colors like soft whites, pale grays, light beiges, or cool pastels reflect more natural light and create a feeling of airiness. A favorite among interior designers is Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray or Benjamin Moore’s Simply White, both of which create a fresh, op...
