This morning Michael Elliott wrote a post about the baseball season starting, and it reminded me that I used to think baseball was dumb. Growing up, I'd see my baseball on the TV and think, geez, a bunch of guys running around in a circle! How boring! And then I gave birth to boys who started growing up and wanted to play sports. They tried T-Ball first, which I thought was the funniest thing on earth.  The ball would get hit, and both teams would run after it. Or the "outfielder" would sit down to look at flowers. I loved that game! And as they got older, they kept going with baseball. As their dad was not in the picture by then, I'm the one that went to the games. I learned how to throw and catch so I could help them practice their skills. And I went to all the practices. And as I was s...

First Day of Spring 2024It's the first day of spring, officially called the Spring Equinox.  This means that for the Northern Hemisphere, we will get earlier sunrises, later sunsets, softer winds and the plants will start to bud.  For the purists, it il be 11:06 PM, EST.My yard must have had its dates messed up as my crocuses have a jump start as do the daffodils. This bunch is much larger than it was last yer. I was not aware that they self-propagated like other plants do.The daffodils are anxious to bud, even though we had a relatively mild winter with only 2 snowstorms, albeit they were big.Regardless of the transition time, it will be nice to get some warmer days back home. And for the real estate business, I would guess that this mean the starting flag has been dropped and the race ...

Tuesday’s Treasures...Is There a SPRING in Your Step? Sigh….it’s finally here!!!! Spring begins tonight at 11:06 pm (EDT)  Depending upon where you live, you may be asking yourself if the Almanac or Mom Nature made a mistake.  Houston should have temps in the in the high 60s or low 70s. Motivational Monday…What Do You Do? There are things we do everyday to maintain our physical health. For example, we brush our teeth, take our vitamins or pills, drink water, walk, or exercise. It would never occur to us not to do them unless, for example, we want our teeth to fall out! (I’m channeling our mothers) There are things we can do to help with our overall mental health as well. I ran across this quote last week and thought I’d pass it on.  Remember that you only get a limited time on this earth. Today is a good day to do something that makes you feel happy!UnknownStudies have shown how stress can affect your body. We need to try to offset the stresss in our lives.   In grad school, my partner and I had to study the impact that stress has on the adrenal gland. (thank goodness ...

Life is an adventure, with peaks and valleys. Surrounding ourselves with cherished friends is a must, expressing gratitude strengthens those bonds. Take time to celebrate both major milestones and small joys, spreading brightness wherever you go. Release grudges, embrace forgiveness. You hold the magic to become someone's lucky charm. This Irish proverb resonates deeply for me with its timeless wisdom.

It's Selection Sunday for College BasketballFor college basketball junkies, guilty as charged, this is a day to pay close attention as the playoffs are here. It's one and done time to see who will become the NCAA Champions. It is even more anticipated here in CT as our men's team is the overall #1 team due to the hiccups created by others seeking that position in the conference finals this weekend. Not only is the men's team the overall #1 team, but as defending National Champions, they are also the favorites to repeat as champions. They have had an exceptional year going 30-3, and their path to the Final 4 in Phoenix is through the regionals, starting in Brooklyn, NY and then to Boston and if they win out, it's to the Final 4.Not to be overlooked, even though their past few years have be...

Did you ever hear of the Silver Moon?  Did you go there? It was in Newport AR and it hosted soon-to-be-famous stars like Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Louis Armstrong, Conway Twitty, Sonny Burgess and many others. The club had alcohol, gambling, and live bands and could seat 800.I found this poster in a drawer in my house and I think Hubby was a patron back in the 50's.  Not me.  I didn't live in Arkansas.  He was familiar with the area and now there is a rock-n-roll highway that remembers it and other night clubs along the highway. I found this picture of it online.  Perhaps a Searcy Sleuth can give us a memory of attending this club or others on the rock-n-roll highway!
