LOST SOCK MEMORIAL DAYHonoring All Those Socks Gone Missing Without a Trace "Life is too short to waste time matching socks." - Helen Pluckrose Today, we gather in solemn—and slightly ridiculous—remembrance of a true domestic tragedy: the unmatched sock. Yes, it’s Lost Sock Memorial Day, a time to pause and pay tribute to all those socks that mysteriously vanish in the laundry vortex, never to be seen again. Some call it a silly holiday. Others (especially those with overstuffed sock drawers) know it all too well. Strangely, Lost Sock Memorial Day always brings a smile to my face. Maybe it’s the absurdity of it all—or the fact that I don’t even wear socks! Fun fact: if you missed it, May 8th was “No Socks Day,” so it’s only fitting that today we honor the fallen socks..A Moment of Silen...

Investing in insurance is a given during our lifetimes. We need car insurance to drive, health insurance to defend against rising healthcare costs, and home insurance to protect our financial and physical assets. Life insurance is designed for anyone who has dependents who rely on their income to survive. In some cases, you might have a spouse and children in a single-income household who would be unable to care for themselves should you pass suddenly. If you take care of your parents or your grandparents and they rely ...

I have noticed a trend that is happening in the media, Podcasting, and, in general conversation. This trend is using the word, "right" as a placeholder. It is happening so often and quite frankly, appears to be a trend. An occasional use of the word is fine, but, when it becomes a placeholder after almost every sentence, it is annoying.I used to notice people using the word, "like" constantly, and now it has morphed into this new tactic, right? OK, just kidding. But seriously, are any of you noticing this trend at all? And, you might even notice that you have picked this up as well!It is interesting to notice when a new saying or phrase becomes a trend. And, I always wonder what it is about certain words or sayings that become trendy. Now that this is on my radar, I notice it big time.H...

I booked a tour to parts of Europe in September, and originally I said they could go ahead and book the flights too.   I was worried about being put into a middle seat for so many hours. Then I decided to go from Prague to Faro Portugal for a GO SEE the area as a resident before I go to Houston to apply for my VISA.    I canceled my flight through this tour company.Today I looked, and OH MY flights are very reasonable.   Like $680 roundtrip to and from Zurich.   I was thinking one way to Zurich for the trip, and Lisbon home, but that flight was MUCH longer, and about $1300.   It is $49 from Faro to Zurich, so saving A LOT to get a round trip.TIP:   always check what the flight costs are, then see what it would be to fly around Europe and do a round trip home, could save you money!

Wordless Wednesday…Signs Do you believe in signs?  You know…the ones the Universe sends you exactly when you need them! Are they always there? Or is the Universe really sending us a sign? Does our faith need shoring up? Has our hope in the future taken a hit?   What I see as a sign may be interpreted as just a painted stone by someone else.  A few months ago, I saw this on one of our walks.                                 This sign reaffirmed what I already felt. Signs are not the world speaking to you, they are you speaking through the world.  Carl Jung If you ask the universe for a sign, believe what shows up. Unknown Do you believe in signs??

I parked my car at the grocery store and noticed this tiny shopping cart with a pole and a sign that read "Customer In Training." As my mind wanders, I started thinking about Newbies in the Real Estate Industry. What if the sign said, New Real Estate Agent in Training. What would you put inside the shopping cart? My imaginary mind filled up the cart and it collapsed and/or exploded before I even stepped outside of my car door. Here's  where my mind went in seconds: Computer, Laptop, or iPad. Better yet, get all three.  Smart Phone with unlimited data. Battery Charger.  Portable Backup Charger when traveling.  Color Printer. Cartridges for the Printer.  Pedestrian PonderingCommonplace Or RareMaybe Both SimultaneouslyThe Merriam-Webster dictionary shows two definitions of the word, pedestrian. It is both a noun describing one who walks or an adjective meaning commonplace, unimaginative. Realizing that such differences exist can be helpful when moving about everyday life.    Not to be too philosophical but I am therefore I walk.  While my methods of movement have morphed more than a bit over the years, walking remains a part of how I operate. So, to speak. Let's face it, perceptions and preferences can collide at times. Memories can blur too. I have noticed this as thoughts beyond my peripheral vision enter my thought process. Realizing that such blind spots exist, can be a significant sign.      In walking, I experience things around m...

Photo Journalism Flower Mound, Texas had a lot of rain in April. Now that May is here, the rain and thunderstorms continue. Last night I celebrated a friend's birthday. I think that is pretty good humor. I have no idea how sensitive to smell guinea pigs are but being they are close to the ground and so are Joe's feet I think the cartoon is funny.Foul smells in the home are no laughing matter, some can be deadly. The smell of natural gas or propane:Natural gas and propane smell like rotten eggs. That smell is actually an additive that the gas companies add into the product. These products have no scent which makes them extremely dangerous on their own.If you smell a gas leak in your home exit immediately! Call 911 and get out. Just look at the picture above... do you think anyone could survive that?Speaking of natural gas the gas from your sewage system can also be deadly BUT it is more of a silent killer, not an explosive one. Here in the Northland the ...

Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that's real power. What you put into life is what you get out of it.There are two kinds of people in this world. 'I' people and 'we' people. I've always tried to be a 'we' person.Aging can be fun if you lay back and enjoy it.If a person doesn't change, there's something really wrong with him.
