My friends get together each year to celebrate March Madness.  It is four days of fun and frivolity.  We have been doing it since 1981.  Part of our celebration revolves around food and I always make dinner one night since I love to cook.  The meals have not always ended up well.  There was the time I smoked several tri-tip steaks in my barrel smoker.   I made beef jerky!  There was the time I made drunken beans.  The recipe called for two tablespoons of tequila.  I read it wrong and added two cups.  The beans were harsh to say the least. About 15 years ago, I decided to make them all Whiskey Glazed Corned Beef, from Cuisine at Home.  You should have heard the groaning.  "I don't like corned beef," many of them said.  "Maybe you should focus on breakfast this year," they said.  And mayb...

The eager worm catches the fish! Successful positioning often comes from readily meeting every day. That means taking on challenges, adapting or adjusting to changing conditions while regularly maintaining tried and true methodology. The excitement of catching a fish is similar to getting a call from sellers after a listing appointment, that I am their agent-of-choice or when a well qualified buyer is ready to move forward with a purchase. Their sales goals can be achieved through sincere efforts! Constantly "fishing" through my SOI, maintaining an online presence, attending local events face-to-face with the community, volunteering time to worthy causes, talking to past clients, always nets results. Early to bed…early to rise…fish all day…take home the prize! Here fishy, fishy! 🐠

This past week was a lot of fun, being on vacation in South Texas.   My friend of 25 years had an AirBnB in McAllen, Texas, and said no one had visited the entire 3 months he had been down there!   Talk about a guilt trip!  OK, not busy right now, so will go!    Had a few things to move on the calendar, but fit in a week away! After making the plane reservations, I looked at the temperatures, and found it was going to be in the upper 90's!  OH MY, and the humidity was way up there too.   Well, suck it up buttercup!    While down there, it did get up to 101, then a cold front came through - WHEW!     Went to South Padre Island, and put my feet into the ocean --- IT WAS COLD!  Have to say, wasn't expecting that, but Bob did remind me that it was winter.   There were kids in the water -- BR...

This Week…The Madness of March No, I’m not referring to the Ides of March or the time change. Larry and I look forward to March Madness every year…when brackets are built one day and start to collapse the following day.   One man practicing sportsmanship is far better than a hundred teaching it. Knute RockneThis year both of our teams (KU and UH) went in as #1 Seeds along with Alabama and Purdue.   The key is not the will to win ... everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. Bobby Knight KU is trying to be the eighth team to win back-to-back National Championships. The reasons why I love team sports, especially college level, go beyond athleticism.  Those who participate in sports learn how to be team players. Knowledge will give you power, but character res...

Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on the 17th of March every year. The day is named after Saint Patrick, who is the patron saint of Ireland. He was a Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland during the 5th century, and is known for his efforts to convert the Irish people to Christianity.Saint Patrick's Day is a national holiday in Ireland, and is also celebrated in other parts of the world with large Irish communities such as the United States, Canada, and Australia. It is a day when people come together to celebrate Irish culture and heritage. One of the most well-known symbols of Saint Patrick's Day is the shamrock, which is a three-leafed plant that is said to have been used by Saint Patrick to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity to the Irish peo...

St. Patrick’s Day: Then and Now Modern St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, at least in the United States, are likely be to characterized by commercial lucky charms and green beer—all of which has very little to do with the historical figure of the saint. As it turns out, it took centuries for the holiday to accrue the elements that now seem crucial to its celebrations. The March 17 celebration started in 1631 when the Church established a Feast Day honoring St. Patrick. He had been Patron Saint of Ireland who had died around the fifth century—a whopping 12 centuries before the modern version of the holiday was first observed. But very little is known about who he actually was, according to Marion Casey, a clinical assistant professor of Irish Studies at New York University (and a regular mar...
