  Jackson Hole Mountain Resort had nearly 5 feet of snow fall in the past week!!  This morning, not much has changed as I look out my window.  It just keeps on snowing!  It was an epic weekend of skiing and spending last season teaching my fiance has started to pay off!  We got some great runs in, although she did get buried a few times.  I skied right passed her once and could barely see her.  That's what happens when you wake up to 17 inches Saturday morning and 20 inches on Sunday morning.  Nice!!  The picture below is what it looked like all over the mountain.   01/25/2010

I finally got to play the new Shooting Star Golf Course at Teton Village.  To say the course is picturesque is an understatement, the views from in and around the course are absolutely incredible.  With a few exceptions you barely see any homes or buildings as you play the course which a design trick favorite of Mr Fazio.  Speaking of buildings the over 40,00 sq. ft. clubhouse is very nicely finished and the men's locker room and lounge is very roomy and comfortable.  This course can be played easily from the blue or gold tees, the black tees are long and the championship tees make this course down right monstrous at about 7550 yards.  Something really amazing is that water comes into play on about 12 of the 18 holes depending on tee and pin placement, making for both a beautiful and ch... 07/20/2009

Yesterday was the highly anticipated opening of the Tom Fazio designed Shooting Star golf course in Jackson Hole.  I spoke with a friend who played one of the coveted first rounds yesterday morning (why didn't he invite me?) and he said the course was, in a word, spectacular.  I got a chance to drive some of it with the GM Mark Aulerich last year as part of a Realtor open house.  Keep in mind the course was still partially under construction and it looked incredible then.  This is an excerpt from my write up after touring the course last Fall: "The really nice thing about this course design is that you don't feel like your playing amongst houses like some golf course developments.  The real estate components were all clustered near the main clubhouse or to the south and west of the cour... 07/02/2009

I've had a few people ask about what is going on with the construction at Teton Village.  Just when everyone thought it was just about done with the second tower of Hotel Terra almost complete, here we go again!  As much as we would all like it to be done this is actually part of the plan and now that the Terra is largely complete the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is finishing up the Village!  Gone are the rock climbing wall and the fishing pond being replaced by a natural amphitheater and, in the winter, an ice skating rink.  They are also adding connectivity pathways, some of which will be heated in winter.  The core of the village will be finished off with additional landscaping which should really make for some pretty nice views from your Teton Mountain Lodge, Hotel Terra or Crystal ... 06/18/2009

  BIG RED ARRIVES, and Santa, too! 2,000 locals and visitors watched as the new Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Aerial Tram was unveiled.  Champagne was flowing and Steam Powered Airplane performed while we waited outside of  the Teton Club for a glimpse of the new tram. The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is open and we're counting down to the launch of "Big Red" the new aerial Tram, on December 20th.  The new Tram is larger and fast and will carry 100 passengers to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain (4,139 vertical feet) from the base of Teton Village in just nine minutes! The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) opened as plannned yesterday although the opening was limited.  JHMR snow making crews worked hard to ensure the Werner run on Apre Vous mountain and the Teewinot run were accesible to the willing enthusists who showed up.  I took my son up and we used it as an opportunity to test out our gear and get the legs ready for what we hope will be another great year for snow here in Jackson Hole.  I stopped by the resort this morning and snapped this picture of the new tram building and what appeared to be an attempt by mother nature to bring us some powder. 11/30/2008

If you had come to Teton Village in the year 2000 and then not returned until this year you'd be very surprised at what has happened.  In that time a complete transformation of the Village has taken place and it continues today.  I don't have the exact numbers but an intelligent guess would be there has been close to $500M in investment at the Mountain Resort.  New projects that have appeared in that time include The Teton Club, The Four Season and its Residences, Teton Mountain Lodge, Crystal Springs, the newly completed Hotel Terra, the villages first green Condotel, and a new tram thats under construction as we speak.  Looking forward another 1-4 years and you'll see Teton Mountain Lodge #2, Hotel Terra 2, and The Little Nell.  The mountainside building next to the new tram will also... 02/24/2008

Hotell Terra I closed on all of their intial units last week. Sounds like $1000/square foot was the average, yet appraised values are more like $1275/foot- wow. This seems like the beginning of a surge of activity for Teton Village, at least for new condo-tel rooms. A few resales have already shown up on the MLS; 3 bedroom unit for $2.15M and a 2 bedroom for $1.35M. The construction crew was scurrying when I visited and the stress level was high to say the least. The only current occupants are with the Quiksilver crew here in JH for the snowboard competition organized by local ripper Travis Rice. These guys will for sure break in the new digs and help to work out the kinks.The restaurant in the lobby will be open this week- so far the tasting reviews are incredible. Had a chance to tour the new Snake River Sporting Club facility located slope side in the base of the Teton Club building. This is a spectacular on site mountain amenity for the club as they try to increase their presence among the other premier memberships around the valley: Shooting Star, Amangani and the Four Seasons. Memberships for the 'Alpine Club' will be $60,000 for initiation, $2500/year for dues and the perks include valet parking, skier concierge, ski lockers and use of the dining room facility which offers tasty treats, comfortable sofas and a flat screen T.V. with the NFL package. Golf memberships are still $160,000 and $5000 for yearly dues, but not bad considering this course was just rated #2 in the country by Golf Digest and compared to the #1 rated club in North Caroli... 12/20/2007

So there are many obvious changes going on at Teton Village at the base of Jackson Hole Mt Resort. The Shooting Star development, Hotel Terra, the absence of the aerial tram (and construction of the new one), rumors of new hotels scooping up vacant slope side lots and of course the snowpack. These next few weeks we are going to foucs on all of these new projects, including Hotel Terra (1 of 5 LEED certified hotels in N. America) and the new lobby restaurant run by Bistro legend Gavin Fine, the progress on the aerial tram, the new Little Nell hotel in the works and some trail conditions once the snow is good enough to get up to the higher elevations.Hotel Terra sounds like it will be amazing.
