When it comes to elegance and charm, the West Virginia Governor's Mansion, also known as the West Virginia Executive Mansion, stands as an iconic symbol of the state's grandeur. This magnificent residence serves as the official home of the West Virginia governor, and its history is as captivating as its architecture.A Historic Transformation: From Private Housing to a Mansion for the GovernorBefore 1893, West Virginia governors were responsible for finding their housing, often leading to diverse and sometimes less-than-suitable accommodations. However, everything changed after a devastating fire consumed the State Capitol in 1921. In response, the Legislature passed a sales tax to fund the construction of a Capitol complex, which included allocating funds for a governor's house. The res...

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF WEST VIRGINIA Joins in Recognizing "WORLD HABITAT DAY 2014" World Habitat Day is not a day established by Habitat for Humanity International. In 1986, the United Nations established “World Habitat Day” as a time to reflect on the housing conditions across the world. It is estimated that over 30% of the world population lives in poor inadequate housing. These conditions lend to poor health, poor education, and broken families.   As world leaders continue to pour money into these areas in order to react to the results of inadequate housing, the United Nations Agency for Human Settlements has a goal to promote sustainable towns and cities that provide adequate shelter for all.       Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity of West Virginia, and r...

Why Are Lenders So Meticulous? Give Me My Money Already!! Why are lenders so darn difficult to get along with? You found the perfect house and just need MegaNational Bank to fork over some dough so you can get moved in and start picking out drapes. Every day it feels like they need this documented or that form filled out, even so much as proof you paid back the .50 you borrowed from Johnny in 6th grade. Having been through a couple purchases and a refi, I can feel your pain. I know lenders are everyone's favorite punching bag (and sometimes for good reason) but you must remember that MegaNational Bank is a business and businesses need to make money. Handing over several thousand, or hundreds of thousands of dollars, with the promise you will pay them back because you are an honest guy d...
