Here's wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and busy New Year.  I am optimistic that the market is going to get better in the upcoming weeks and months.  With the low interest rates available I believe more people are going to step out and look for that home or property they have been holding back from buying.  So, enjoy your family and friends during the Christmas holidays and be ready for some serious buying and selling in the New Year!

Now is the time to acquire your own piece of heaven in wild, wonderful West Virginia so it will be there and waiting for hunting season next year.  All my friends and acquaintances know that I really enjoy the sport of hunting.  I was able to go out a few times the past two weeks and finally got a 7 point buck near the end of the buck gun season.  We have doe season this week and next week is muzzle loading season.  I also bow hunt, but I believe muzzle loading is my favorite way to hunt.  I keep my deer and have it processed at a local plant.  Nothing is better than those tenderized deer steaks dipped in buttermilk and rolled in flour and simmered in that skillet.  Greenbrier County is alive with white tail deer, turkeys, and squirrels.  I have several parcels on the market right now t...

There were Four Christmas parades held in Ronceverte, Lewisburg, Rainelle and White Sulphur Springs.  The real estate Agents from my office "Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts" was in three of the parades.   The Lewisburg, Ronceverte, and White Sulphur Springs parade, there was floats, bands, civic and youth groups (school bands, boy scout troop), emergency vehicles, local businesses, etc.   The snow was blowing and it was cold but a lot of people still lined the streets watching and waving and as we threw candy while the kids and adukts scrambled to get the candy for there bags.  At the end of the evening we had a couple inches of snow and the streets were getting slick.  The first friday is an event in Lewisburg that the merchants are open from 5-8 in the historical downtown area for th...

Saturday evening, after another Thanksgiving dinner, my family attended the Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  The event was the West Virginia Jazz Orchestra with special guest Tony Nalker.  Get this-- a $10 admission.  It was really a superb evening.  My nephew, Robert Vasvary and his wife Nicolena were so amazed that this small town had so much to do.  They loved the show,! It was so relaxing, and we enjoyed the big band music and holiday cheer. The West Virginia Jazz Orchestra is comprised of area musicians -- retired music professors, working professional musicians, and ecellent amateur musicians.  Cathy Sawyer, Artistic Director at GVT, was the vocalist.  Tony Nalker has served since 1989 as the pianist of the U.S. Army Blues Band. Please read more about ...

This is my first blog.  I am a Realtor in Lewisburg, WV, Greenbrier County, and new to Active Rain! It is absolutely unbelievable to find this wealth of information.  Well, I've been going through the posted blogs, for about a week now, and realize the more I read, the more information I find.  This can become overwhelming, but well worth the effort.  I've bookmarked so many pages.  Most of these are tools, but some good reading blogs that I wanted to keep for references. While the market is somewhat slow, I find it a good time to catch up on real estate training, and the Active Rain website has been so helpful.    THANK YOU!While perusing the Active Rain site, I searched for Lewisburg West Virginia, but did not find much on this area.  Below are some links I wanted to share with the Act...

Looking for someplace interesting to visit without straying too far from home?  One tank of gas will get you from nearly any part of West Virginia to any other.  Let me suggest visiting Lost World Caverns in Lewisburg.  Originally, the cave was used by a farmer to discard his trash.  He never really thought about how deep the hole was, only that it held anything that he threw in and that "cows took a long time to hit the bottom."  Ugh.  (I'm not surprised though, I've seen smaller airports!)  Spelunkers (cave explorers) heard rumors about it and asked to be allowed to explore the cave.  What a wonder they found! Now you enter the cave through an industrial looking tunnel carved into the rock.  The temperature remains 52 degrees year round, so plan ahead and bring a light jacket even in s...

As my broker always says, "You are only going to wish you bought more real estate later on."  I think that is definitely the case with southern West Virginia real estate.  It reminds me of the story of a seller who countered a buyer at $600,000 dollars for a large tract of land and the buyer decided to wait and get it cheaper at auction the next week.  The next week it sold for $1.5 million dollars at auction to another buyer.  That guy could have bought the land for $600,000 and turn around and sold it the next week and made almost a million dollars!  It is one of the few places in this country where you can still get an acre for $1,000-$5,000 dollars in some places.  Think about that you can't even buy a car for that much.  West Virginia is going to be the place to own land in a few y...

This is the second time this year a national newspaper has featured an article about Lewisburg, WV.  Steve Hendrix of the Washington Post, wrote an article about the famous Greenbrier Hotel's other well kept secret.  Of course the first secret was the Cold War bunker built under the hotel to house congress in the event of a nuclear attack.  The other secret is the town of Lewisburg.  He says, "This (Lewisburg) is a Mayberry setting with a Santa Fe Soul.  Most of it has been given over to a thriving stroll-about tourist quarter of martini bars, coffee shops, Irish pubs, art galleries, funky boutiques, a professional playhouse and the best kind of antiques stores."Greenbrier County truly is a unique and special place.  You can purchase a Three-million dollar home at the Greenbrier Sportin...

The market in Lewisburg, WV is still very good by WV standards.  Greenbrier County is home to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), which is expanding their faculty and increasing their class sizes exponentially every year.  The rental market is very tight for this reason and many students and parents of students are buying properties that can later be sold or rented.  The expansion of WVSOM combined with the fact that many of the builders are tied up building houses at the Homestead Resort and the Greenbrier Resort has contributed to a housing shortage.  This area is also attracting a lot of people from more urban areas who want a second home away from the hustle bustle of city life, but with all of the culture and fine dining that Lewisburg has to offer.  If you ar...
