Waukesha Wisconsin is full of amazing history, plenty of interesting things to see and do, great restaurants, and lots ofwonderful and charming residents. The original nickname of Waukesha is "Spring City" because of all the natural springs that were and are in the city. The water was so famous people would come from all over the country and bath in it and drink it. It was bottled by a very famous bottling company, and even resorts were always full of patrons looking to relax and enjoy in the splendors of Waukesha Water. Besides Waukesha being famous for water, it is also famous for an amazing musician that changed music and its course in history for ever. That man was Les Paul which invented the solid body guitar and multi track recording. Waukesha Wisconsin has to offer much and once ...

Waukesha’s Friday Night Live Waukesha Friday Night Live began over a decade ago as Freeman Friday Night Live when citizens and downtown business owners gathered to discuss the fact that the city of Waukesha was abandoned and looked like a ghost town by 7 pm on Friday nights.  Businesses were closed due to a lack of customers, and the only sound that filled the streets was wind and muffled music from local taverns.  Business owners and organization officials decided that sponsoring musicians to entertain on various stage locations throughout historic downtown Waukesha each Friday would wake the sleeping city and bring her back to life.  Such an event would draw visitors and entertainers alike. It didn’t take long before Friday Night Live was born in Waukesha, and Friday’s were back to th...

Life Saving Information...Please Read And Share!     By Kristin Johnston, Waukesha Realtor 414-254-6647 Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Center May 09, 2014 12:00 PM   It could save your life:     While driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, I saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it.   For whatever reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head. But when I got to my destination, I called the Canton PD and they were going to check it out. But, this is what the Police advised even before they went out there to check....   "There are several things to be aware of ... Gangs and thieves are now plotting different ways to get a person (mostly women) to stop their vehicle and get out of the ca...

The Caffeine Conundrum     By Kristin Johnston, Waukesha Realtor 414-254-6647 Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Center              Many of us start our day with a steaming cup (or more) of coffee.  I switch to green tea in the afternoon, but cease caffeine consumption by 2 or 3pm at the latest.   Coffee and tea are often pegged as prime dehydrators, but caffeine should not affect your hydration if you keep your intake under 250 milligrams a day--that is about two 8 oz cups of home brewed coffee.  In fact, you can add that 16 oz to your daily water intake.  Any more may have a diuretic effect.  So, if you are pounding the java, chug more water too!

Where Did This Superstition Come From....Purse On The Floor....     By Kristin Johnston, Waukesha Realtor 414-254-6647 Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Center April 08, 2014 08:18 AM   Here is the last segment of this superstition series.  We have all heard that placing your purse on the floor is bad luck, and also hurts your finances---not to mention adds tons of disgusting germs to it!   But where did this superstition come from?  In many cultures, laying something on the floor is a sign of disrespect for that object.  Since a purse holds money, the belief goes, that you are snubbing those funds if you place them on the ground.  So, next time, think twice before putting your handbag on the floor---instead place it over a chair or even on your lap!

Where Did The Superstition Come From.....Cricket In The House...     By Kristin Johnston, Waukesha Realtor 414-254-6647 Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Center April 08, 2014 08:14 AM   In follow up to my blog post yesterday, I am continuing on some superstitions and their origins. Have you ever heard that a cricket in the house is good luck?  So do not ever kill one!   Where did this saying come from?  The cricket's rise to lucky-charm status may have evolved from its chirping abilities.  It was thought that their singing could predict the weather, changes in luck, or even the arrival of friends.  Their harmless nature also earned them a place of welcome, at least as far as insects go, inside the home.

20 Hillary Clinton Quotes                  1. If I want to knock a story off the front page, I just change my hairstyle.   2. We should remember that just as a positive outlook on life can promote good health, so can everyday acts of kindness.   3. The difference between a politician and a statesman is that a politician thinks about the next election while the statesman think about the next generation.   4. Every moment wasted looking back, keeps us from moving forward…In this world and the world of tomorrow, we must go forward together or not at all.   5. Did You Know...Potatoes                  Potatoes:   You can dig up spuds at any size, from small new potatoes to full-size ones.   Potato hills can supply your meals with a fresh daily starch from July through October.   How do you know when a potato is ripe?  For mature storage potatoes, harvest when plant tops die back.  For new potatoes, begin harvesting two weeks after plants bloom.   Potatoes keep longer in storage if they are left in the ground until skins toughen up.  Don't water after the tops die back.  Cure mature potatoes in a cool, dark, humid place, such as a basement, for 2 weeks.  Ideal winter storage is darkness, and a temp of 40 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit---a garage or refrigerator can provide these conditions.

Wear Sunglasses Year Round!                    The ophthalmologist recommends wearing your sunglasses year-round.  Over time, sun exposure can increase your risk of cataracts and macular degeneration, which is the leading cause of blindness in the U.S.  If you wear contact lenses, consider ones that have built-in UV protection (in addition to sunglasses).  And remember, a darker or more expensive pair is not always better.  What matters is that the lenses offer 99% UVA and UVB protection.
