Riverwest Location Located west of Milwaukee's Eastside, bordered by Capitol on the North, the Milwaukee River on the east, Holton on the west, and Commerce Street on the North. Click HERE for a map of the Riverwest Neighborhood. History Riverwest was originally a getaway for the Milwaukee elite. Back in the days of smelly, sweltering summer days, residents of Milwaukee would travel a mile north to the 'country'. The river was clean and cool, ideal for swimming. Following this, some wealthy Milwaukee residents built large mansions to spend summers by the river. While some of these original grand structures still exist, many more were razed in the name of progress. The octagon house (built in 1851) is located on the 2400 block of Gordon Place in Riverwest. This is one of the oldest buil...

How much fun was that?!?!?So I went to the Twins/Brewers game last night in Milwaukee, all decked out in my Twins gear, and boy was it fun.Standing up, waving my Twins hat, whenever we did something good.  There was plenty to cheer about too!  Torii Hunter hit a grand slam and Boof Bonser struck out 11 batters.  After the game we went to some German bar in Downtown Milwaukee.  There was a lot of dancing on tables and drinking large amounts of German Beer.  We did a "shot-ski" which is 5 shot glasses glued to a ski, then 5 people have to tip the ski at the same time.I have never had the experience of rooting for the visiting team in a city.  It was incredible.  Jaw-Jacking back and forth to the locals.  Explaining that I had to come to Milwaukee to see the game because the Metrodome (Inf...

I love the city of Milwaukee.  I lived there for about a year in fact.  I think the city has a bad reputation that it does not deserve.  Sure there's SOME crime, but what major US city doesn't have it's share?Anyway, I'm very excited to be headed back there this upcoming weekend for a nice little vacation. My sister is FINALLY going to be out of school as she is graduating from Marquette on Saturday.  She's got a great job lined up for her in Eau Claire as a resident Dentist.  Friday night we're all going to the Brewers/Twins game in the always fantastic Miller Park.  Saturday is graduation and Saturday night is a little welcome back party with those I knew in Milwaukee. Is anyone else in Active Rain completely in love with that area of Wisconsin?  The suburbs of Milwaukee are fantastic t...

I'm just starting to finally feel a little excited about heading down to sunny Ixtapa for a much needed & deserved week of relaxing and fun. For some odd reason these past 2 weeks have been the most stressful since I got into Real Estate. Must be so I appreciate getting away from it more.Alot of it should be fun, I'm heading down with a big group from my company. They are a great group that definately know how to have fun. I do have to take one day of classes to keep myself up to speed on some of the legal changes that are always happening in real estate, but it's always nice to be able to sip on a margarita during classes.I'm sure I'll feel nice and refreshed on my return even though it's only for a week. It's probally for the best since things are starting to get busy alot earlier tha...

One of my favorite things about working for my company, is that we have some truly amazing people with huge hearts. This is my 3rd Christmas working at HomeSale, and it still amazes me. Well one of the agaents organized some time back a non-profit organizations called Operation Santa Claus. They help out local families when they can in our community. They are totally self-funded, and alot of us work hard through-out the year to find donations from others as well as from ourselves.Yesterday, was my favorite part of working with them. We went out to families that really need a little boost this time of year. We bring them 6 huge boxes of food, and bring our own Santa with toys for the kids. For most of these kids, these are the only presents they will have to open on Christmas, and with t...
