First of all, I am a dog lover and a cat tolerator.   The worst part about cats is that I am allergic to them.   The unconditional love and the desire to be part of my pack are two big reasons why I love dogs.  They make me laugh, too.  My ex used to practice his saxophone in the house, and my standard poodle, curled up by feet while I was blogging, would howl when Peter  played the blues.  The dog didn't have the blues and it was not a howl of protest, he was accompanying the music. Loved it!             Anyway, I wrote this part to assure you that I am not against dogs, but unfriendly or barking or, horror of horrors-a loose growling dog coming at you during a showing?  Once, my buyers and I scrambled out the door in escape, and just as the door slammed behind us that meaner-than-a-ju...

The Tuttle Family Farm, in Dover NH   Shipwrecked off the Maine coast, John Tuttle finally made it in 1632 to claim his land grant from King Charles I to start a farm. 378 years later, they ae selling the spread-one of the oldest continuously operated family farms in the country. I don't know who has listed this property in Dover NH, but what a slice of history that will be!  My ancestor, John Dexter, came to this country in the 1600's from Northern Ireland.  I love this story because the Tuttles arrived at about the same time and both came because of land grants. I wish I had such specific history of my family. This week I atteded as class on the  Meyers-Briggs Personality Type Indicatoror MBTI.  http://www.myersbriggs.org/my-mbti-personality-type/mbti-basics/ We had filled out our rather extensive  profiles ahead of time and the class explained the concepts, the various types (there are 16 combinations) and most importantly how to best communicate across type.  The facilitator's first exercise was for each of us to write our name and then to write it again using our non-dominant hand. She asked us how we felt as we wrote it the 2nd way.  Difficult, uncomfortable, messy, slow-were some of our responses. Her point being that if we try to fit into a type different from our own, we would have the same sorts of reactions.  It was fascinating going over the types in the classroom and we learned so...

It is a great time to buy a home! And have I got the location for you! Middleton, WI, is loaded with small town charm.  We have extensive bike trails and parks, proximity to Madison and its sports and cultural happenings, and the Capitol Brewery Bier Garden!  CNN/Money Magazine voted Middleton the best place to live in 2007 and it came in 4th last year. I wanted to share these photos I took at Lakeview Park yesterday. All you have to do is text, call or email me and I can get you into a new home in lovley Middleton. The picturesque Gazebo and pond.  The fishing is good! You should hear the bullfrogs' deep croaks!

An agent in my office was telling me about an upscale listing she has in a beautiful wooded setting outside of Middleton.  She said some buyers had looked at the home, loved it and made a special request.  They were willing to pay $200.00 per night and they wanted to spend a couple of nights in the house before possibly writing an offer.  The sellers easily and quickly agreed.  In the recent market, we know sellers are willing to do much more than they used to accommodate a potential buyers. The two of us were laughing as Jill said she now had an expanded job description: Pajama Party Organizer.  This went into the "now I have heard everything!" category. However, as I mentioned this to a friend who sells resort and vacation properties, he said, "oh yeah-I have had that kind of a reques...

My broker-manager, Jennifer Utter of the Middleton Office of the Stark Company, told me when I was a new agent that we should really listen to our clients and talk about topics that they want to talk about as we are driving them around.  I have loved that piece of advice and was grateful to her for bringing it up. I decided to try it to the extreme with some out of town buyers who were moving to Middleton from a southern state.  I decided that I would never offer a single thing about myself and my own life unless they asked me a specific question.  I want to tell you that these were very conversational, articulate, interesting and very likable people.  I want to add that my name is not "Chatter-ton" for nothing!  I am an extrovert and a Realtor and I like to talk! I kept up on my end, a...

The ambiance, the summer breezes, running into people you know (networking!), the food-Oh the food!  Kathleen and I brought cloth napkins, pate, imported cheeses and wines, jumbo shrimp, cous cous salad, peach blueberry crisp...I think I have gotten my point across here on the dining part.  I really like the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.  I like Andrew Sewell's accent and how he introduces the pieces. The musicians are fine. The first Concert on the Square this season featured Beethoven with a fabulous 18 year old competition winner who received a standing ovation, romantic Rachmaninoff, and Hungarian Lullaby. . . I do not even know the names or all the composers of classical music pieces that I like. I am not a music snob extrodinaire.  But tonight was Beatles night. Last year, or the y...

By now you have likely heard on more than one occasion that Money Magazine voted Middleton the best place to live in 2007. With the community as strong as ever and all the amazing parks and conservancies, I am sure it will place on their list again in 2008!  People that are relocating to the area often ask about Middleton because of this attention it received from Money Magazine. I therefore wanted to share a link to the town site and January's real estate market report.  Although January's activity level was a bit light, Middleton is truly a great place to purchase real estate.  I'll keep you posted on what February brings.  Please call if you would like a more detailed market report of Middleton or any other communities in the area.  Middleton Property TypeTotal ListingsTotal New List...

17 July 2007 - Middleton, WisconsinIt's people like Bill and Cathy that make Middleton, Wisconsin the Best Place to Live in America.Darren Kittleson of Keller -Williams in Madison scooped me on his Middleton Wisconsin Voted "Best Place to Live"  blog.  He correctly pointed out that Middleton is attracting the kind of people that want to live in a place with access, reasonable real estate prices, low crime, and a positive outlook.  Darren's own quality homes, built by his company Sterling Concepts - has done its fair share to attract good people like The Maynes and he encourages quality of life.  Now back to Bill and Cathy.  These are the kind of people you want in your neighborhood.  Bill coaches or assists in three community youth league sports.  He's on committees and supports their g...

But I already knew that!  It's always great to find out that others think the way you feel when choosing where to live, build a career and raise a family.  It's even more fun when you get national press for that!CNN Money chose Middleton Wisconsin as just that place.  To make this even more exciting, past clients of mine were interviewed as part of this piece.  Troy and Sally Mayne have been a great addition to Middleton and more importantly, Middleton Hills subdivision.  They purchased the Parade of Homes entry I built in 2002, moving from nearby Madison with their 2 children.  Since they arrived they've been great additions to community on many levels.  It was great to see they had a chance to share what they loved about Middleton.Incidently, for anyone wanted to live in Middleton, we...

I had the pleasure last night of attending a performance of Four Season's Theater Company's concert version of "Miss Saigon" at the Union Theater on campus.  To say it was a pleasure is an understatement!  This was singing and acting on a professional caliber.  The cast was awesome, the orchestra was phenomenal, and the amplification of all was right on the mark. What baffles me is that I never saw 1 review of this show anywhere locally! If you love musical theater, don't miss this groups next performances.  They are typically at the Union Theater or the Performing Arts Center at Middleton High School.  It's truly live theater at a professional level!Kudos to everyone who makes it so great.

I’ll be bouncing around a bit here so just stay with me… Buyers, where are you going? Sellers, are you up on your estate education? Are you coming into the market fresh? Ready to rid yourself of that lease with a quaint place all your own? Or perhaps you’re an empty nester looking into a condo because you no longer need that 5 bedroom bungalow. OR you’re ready to move into you dream home that you’ve been inching towards. Whatever the case I always enjoy the chance to ask people about themselves during an interview. To me, I want to know where you’re coming from to determine where you’re going. Now, now, not to knock other Agents but does this sound familiar? An agent comes in and starts going through their sch-peel: ...read the rest at my stationary blog site located at: http://smokesi...
