This park is located on the St Croix Flowage in Gordon, WI. Just up river from the St Croix National Scenic Riverway.Here are a few scenes from the Douglas County Park in Gordon, Wisconsin. It’s about five miles west of Gordon, right at the Gordon Dam. Upstream of the dam, you’ll find the 1900-acre Gordon Flowage, also known as the Saint Croix Flowage. (Not to be confused with Upper Saint Croix Lake, which is upstream at Solon Springs.) The Gordon Flowage has a roughly 29-mile shoreline, and is the largest body of water in Douglas County. The St Croix Flowage in Gordon, Wisconsin This post is in honor of this cabin I’ve just listed on the north shore of the Saint Croix Flowage, also known as the Gordon Flowage. At 1,913 acres, and with 29 miles of meandering shoreline, the Gordon Flowage is one of the largest, least developed lakes anywhere in northwestern Wisconsin. The Flowage is located near near Gordon, Wascott, and Solon Springs, and is just west of U.S. Highway 53. For your enjoyment, I’ve ended this post with some fresh photos taken at various points around the lake. The Flowage has a maximum depth of 28 feet and a mean depth of 7 feet; much of it is relatively shallow.  Its water, however, is quite clear.  Secchi disk readings are generally around 8 feet. Check out these dirt roads in the Gordon-Barnes area. They’re just southwest of Lower Eau Claire Lake, which is part of the Eau Claire Chain of Lakes. Starting point: Mooney Dam Park. To get there from Gordon, drive east for 11.2 miles, then turn right on East Mail Road. Head south for only about 0.2 miles, then turn left on Fowler’s Circle. Roads you’ll travel: East Mail Road, Coppermine Road, Coppermine Loop, South Coppermine Road. This out-and-back route with one side loop is a little over 20 miles, and most of it follows the Ounce River. Whitefish (Bardon) Lake, Gordon/Wascott, Douglas County WI Compared to most other lakes in northwestern Wisconsin, 832-acre Whitefish (Bardon) Lake is different in two ways. First, although a number of fine homes have been built on the lake, special shoreland zoning ordinances have done much to preserve the lake’s natural and scenic beauty. From nearly anywhere on this lake, you can look out over a huge expanse of water whose shore appears largely uninhabited. The lake is wild enough, in fact, so that eagles and loons are spotted frequently. Second, the lake is deep, cold, and clear. According to the DNR, it has a maximum depth of 102’ and a mean depth of 30 feet. Over 60% of the lake is deeper than 20’, and less than 4% is less than 3’ deep. Here in NW Wisconsin, the winters can run long but not too often do we see this kind of snowfall this late in April  The yardstick shows 13" on the table. 15" measured on the deck.
