Seattle’s Mount Baker Neighborhood I love old homes and the old neighborhoods of Seattle, especially those close to downtown. Driving through Mount Baker the other day I was enjoying the views and the quiet streets. The video (a little shaky, my apologize) is southbound on Cascadia Ave S. As you can see there a lot of beautiful turn of the century homes and several from the 1920’s, 30’s, and a couple of moderns from the 50’s and 60’s. The peek a boo views you see in between the homes is looking east over Lake Washington with mostly Mercer Island in the background. Just below at the bottom of the hill is home for the annual Seafair Unlimited Hydroplane Races since 1951. I can only imagine the awesome sunrises you can see from here! OK I'm on a leaning curve with street Art! When the traffic on Interstate 5 is really lousy in the morning one of my favorite drives to Seattle from Renton is up Rainier Avenue to Lake Washington Boulevard. From Seward Park through the Mt. Baker neighborhood the lake is public waterfront for almost 3 miles. View Lake Washington Boulevard in a larger map About half of the boulevard along this stretch is tree lined with a trail for walkers and joggers. I love looking at the many beautiful waterfront homes on the Lake Washington, but it’s a real treat to have this section of unobstructed views across the water at Mercer Island and the Eastside.
