Having deer in my yard is nothing new. I could probably see some everyday.  What I enjoy is the transformations through the year. This spike, a young buck was probably here before as a fawn, but now that he's grown a bit, his velvet covered antler's are evident.  I can't wait to see him again in the fall when they are on full display.

Sunset over Lake Sammamish, Silent Sunday   This picture was taken from the Tilingit neighborhood in central Sammamish on Thompson Hill.  I've used this picture as the backdrop and banner for my AR blog and my Facebook cover page.  I love the colors and the silhouette of the trees against the lake.

Perils of Purple Periwinkle in April in Sammamish, It's Snailing! A recent Wordless Wednesday post showed a Periwinkle blossom in our yard.  Today that flower is covered in an unusual April snow shower.  December through March we had little if any snow.  Today we've had periodic showers of snow, sleet and hail certain to eclipse whatever totals we had this winter.  Our youngest came home from school and said, "it's snailing outside."

Sammamish Neighborhoods, Tlingit on Thompson Hill Located off Thompson Hill Road in Sammamish, Tlingit is a Native North American Term meaning "Human Beings."  Although the Tlingit people didn't inhabit this area, they were further north in British Columbia and Alaska, the term appealed to the developer of this Sammamish Neighborhood perched on Thompson Hill overlooking Lake Sammamish. Many homeowners in Tlingit enjoy excellent western views.  These higher end homes have been recently priced from the middle $600,000's to well over $1,000,000.  Built primarily from the late 1980's through the 1990's they are positioned to maximize and enjoy Lake Sammamish vistas.                      View facing east   Approximately 40 homes make up the Tlingit neighborhood, which is in the Lake Washingt...

Sammamish Neighborhoods, Thompson Hill...Eclectic! About halfway between Issaquah, the corporate home of Costco and Redmond, Microsoft's Headquarters, on the east side of Lake Sammamish is a street called Louis Thompson Road (Thompson Hill Road for the locals).  Turning east on this road takes you up into a number of different communities offering a variety of homes, styles and affordability.  View Larger Map You'll find new construction built in the last 5 years and historic (at least for his area) homes from the earliest days of Sammamish.  There are farms here with horses, cattle, geese & chickens as well as new orderly neighborhoods with home owners associations.  Modern mansions to modest starter homes can be found in this part of Sammamish.  Even wildlife calls this area home. Wordless Wednesday, Grazing on Thompson Hill, Sammamish   Driving up Thompson Hill Road in Sammamish, just as it becomes 212th Ave NE, a car passing from the other direction flashed their lights at me as if to warn of a speed trap.  I slowed down, thankful for the warning but instead of law enforcement, I found two does and two fawns enjoying a roadside snack.  Finding a safe place to park I got out to take some pictures, and suddenly heard some complaining over my shoulder.  Behind me in a pasture were these horses and a llama wanting their pictures taken as well.
