  The original Burke Gilman trail connected Gas Works Park and Tracy Owen Station in Kenmore 12.1 miles away.  The trail was formerly owned by Burlington Northerner Railroad and was abandon in 1971 a citizen group launched a campaign to acquire the abandon railroad tracks and turn it into a non-motorized public biking and walking trail. After some opposition from residents living around the trail was overcome the City of Seattle and the University of Washington go developed the original 12.1 mile route from Gas Works Park to Tracy Owen station Most of the original trail that follows the west shoreline of Lake Washington has been added on to extending east to Marymoor Park in Redmond and west to Ballard passing the locks and ending at Shilshole Bay. Where to workout in North Seattle- The competition for fitness club membership has increased in North Seattle with the addition of 24 Hour Fitness and the 2 year old LA Fitness joining the established Mieko's Fitness in Lake City and the Seattle Athletic Club at Northgate. The membership fees vary depending on the amenities; such as towel service, cafes, and classes.  Monthly membership fees:  Miekos  $14-18  (extra fee for Tai Chi class) LA Fitness $39-45 Seattle Club $100 24 Hour Fitness $24-29 (opening special pricing)  I personally belong to LA Fitness and Mieko"s and they seem to cater to the same age group. We all know that we are good at some things. We aslo know there are things that, try as we might, we just can't seem to master them. The ridiculous thing is that we try to hide them from ourselves. We don't admit to ourselves what we are struggling with. you should evaluate yourself and make a list of what you are accomplished in and what are your biggest challenges? Then find someone who needs help in an area that you are strong, and have that person hlep you in the area they are strongest. Once you admit it, you will be able to fix it. 10/17/2008

For me personally, what I do after each challenge is question myself "How could I have done better?" I never allow myself to ask "why me?"
