I left Wenatchee, Washington for home about 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2016... It was a beautiful day and I was enjoying the drive home over Blewett Pass into Cle Elum wanting to make good time and beat the rush hour traffic back in Pugetopolis where I live in Renton. Cle Elum is just about half way so I made a quick pitstop at the Safeway grocery store to pick up something cool to drink and perhaps a snack before I jumped on Interstate 90 and over Snoqualmie Pass to home.I’m trying to come to terms with my thoughts as we head into this Memorial Day weekend and now, at my age, I’m finally accepting the fact I’m just one of those guys that has to mull some things over a lot and holidays like this one come with mixed emotion. I’m doing my best to assemble some kind of sense of it...

Halloween is upon us and it’s going to be November in a few days. I’m thinking about my Dad. As sons and dads go, we had a great relationship and as in most all relationships it had its ebb and flow and ups and downs. Today I’m remembering an evening 38 years ago. Dad was an accordionist, a very exceptional one as a matter of fact. In 1976 he was playing in Cle Elum, Washington at Cavallini’s, a local restaurant and nightclub. The Serenaders, Al Fabre and long time partner Frank Baffaro, guitar, played at Cavi’s for several years. Dad called me on a Tuesday. Frank was ill, could I sit in and play through the weekend. We hadn’t played together for several years except a few songs here or there on occasion, but I was raised on his repertoire and it was part of my DNA, even if my musical f...

Habitat for Humanity or Rodentity- Under the bathtub, air bypass. Wenatchee and Cle Elum Home Inspection Services. It has become all too often that I find myself showered with rodent fecal pellets. As a structural pest inspector one of my duties is to evaluate all plumbing drops that I can access. This requires me to move insulation back and look at the plumbing drops for leak, possible rot and insect infestation. This brings me to the infamous gaping hole below the bathtub or in some cases showers. This seems to be perfect habitat for my little rodent friends.                                       This also is a major fault in the building envelope that allows unconditioned air to infiltrate the conditioned space.  Washington State Energy Code builders guide actually states [502.4.3]: Dra...

Starting to work on more email marketing. The following email went out to 54,000 recipients (not spam... this was an email list of "double opt-in" recipients). The recipients are supposed to be camping/RV enthusiasts. We had around 1300 people actually read the email and 91 people click links. I'm hoping to improve the response next time. How would you change this ad? Note The layout is way off in activerain (and even my own blog. The layout was better when sent, but still had problems. Got some tips, after-the-fact, from the mailing service. Next one should look much better. Are you considering a vacation property in Eastern Washington? Summers over, Fall is in it's fully glory... The vibrant colors of the leaves changing, frost in the morning, the crisp cool air. All things many of us think about in Fall.Kittitas County is one of the most beautiful places to witness the Four Seasons. Most days it is sunny and clear: I live in a recreational paradise. ONLY a little over an hour from downtown Seattle. No wonder we have so many second homes. Yes, people have discovered our little paradise just east of the Cascades. Here's a little taste of what we enjoy in Kittitas County...Spring: Fishing, Hiking, Biking, Watching all of our Flowers Bloom, Planting Gardens for the SummerSummer: Boating, Water Sports, Hiking, Mountain Climbing, Camping, Dirt Biking, Car ShowsFall: Hunting, Hiking, Watching the Colors Change, Getting read...

An hour and 30 minute drive eastbound on I-90 from downtown Seattle.  And where are you??  Upper Kittitas County.  Why?  Well, let me see....  Washington's only end destination resort, Suncadia, 3 lakes, 3 rivers, lots of trees, ponderosa pine, cedar, fir, vine maple (but not that much), rivers, lakes, fishing, boating, hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, crosscountry skiing, GOLF, did I mention GOLF? Instead of listening to traffic congestion, your neighbor mowing, or yelling at the dog, you listen to birds singing, trees whispering, chipmunks chirping, water rushing, and your blood pressure dropping to a sane level. That's why I'm here.  That's why I work here.  That's why you should want to be here.
