Ever just needed a bit more glitz on your clothing? SO much fun! At yesterday's Ribbon Cutting, my Ambassador duties for the Auburn Chamber of Commerce got caught up in looking at the sparkly, glitzy, diamondy clothing custom decorated by the staff at Becky's Glamour! Located inside the SuperMall of the Great Northwest, in Suite 1114 (near Old Navy), Rebecca "Becky" and Jenny and the rest of the helpful staff help design and add sparkly little decorations to virtually any clothing item -- hats, jeans, t'shirts, belts. Whatever. How much fun is THAT?!! Now, I know I've missed the names of everyone there, but next time you visit the Mall, be sure to pop in and say 'Hi' to Becky and crowd ... and order a shirt or two. Now that I think on it, maybe it'd be fun to add some glitz to the ankle...

Does anyone know of a company that does foundation work for manufactured homes to bring them to FHA compliance ... in the general vicinity of Auburn, WA (south King County or north Pierce County)??? The company needs to know Auburn Building codes and general FHA requirements so that a sale can be closed I have one estimate for work that needs to be done, but my client (as she should!) would like to see at least one more estimate before contracting to have the work completed. We'd sure appreciate your recommendations!

Like most real estate professionals, I receive information weekly from the loan officers with whom I've worked or have an association about their latest mortgage programs, interest rate adjustments, changes in the bond market, whatever. Lots and lots of information; almost every bit of it is useful and timely. Some of it I understand; some if it is over my head and I have to work a bit to figure out what the heck they're talking about. Matt Person of The Legacy Group in Puyallup stepped up this morning with a compelling reason for Buyers to get off the fence and submit any FHA applications before the end of March. Since the business of selling houses is dependent on the ability of our clients to obtain financing -- whether a Buyer or a Seller -- Matt's information is helpful. Thanks, Ma...

Yes, homes and other properties DID sell in Auburn in 2009. From an agent's standpoint, the business of real estate felt slower until Fall, then things started jumping like mad! I know from my own business that every single sale was a lot of work -- always gratifying, but whew! The start of real estate in 2010 is moving right along! Just so you know ... Days on Market is the number of days the property was Active; i.e., available for sale and not under any sort of a purchase contract. Sometimes, especially where short sales are involved, a property may go in and out of Active status, however once a contract is fully signed by both the Buyer and the Seller, the property is "Pending" and the time during which the bank considers the sale does not affect the Days on Market. Obviously the bu...

Well here we are wrapping up the first month of fall.  If you live in the Green River Valley there is no doubt that you have been keeping up on the news of the Howard Hanson Dam situation.  If you were a victim of the last years flooding then I'm sure you have already laid plans for this winter long ago.  Some of you may still be scrambling for flood insurance information.  Many companies have stopped insuring private homes but the government still has programs available.  If you would like up to date information on exactly what the river is doing this season you can access the Green River flooding information straight from the USGS.  The government has been steadily working this past year to minimize any damage that we may have this upcoming rainy season, but we still need to take resp...

Like almost everyone I know that works in the housing industry, I've been chasing myself around for the last few weeks trying to get all of the First Time Homebuyers in my client list qualified and under contract so that they were eligible for the $8,000 tax credit ... due to expire on November 30th. It's been a wild ride, full of both elation and disappointment! And, of course, absolutely full of the question "Will it be extended?" I've been diligently trying to follow along with activities in the legislature while listening to other opinions about why it will and why it won't and who thinks it's a great idea and who thinks it'll continue to bankrupt us all. Reuters is one of my favorite places to find quality news feeds--in this case current activity on extending the $8,000 tax credit...

The news media provides an overall look at what the real estate market is doing coast to coast. If you regularly read the local Sunday papers, you may even get a feel for what's selling in various counties or even in your local community. Graphs bring that information down in a visual, manageable method, making it a bit easier to figure out what's really going on. The graphs here are for the Auburn, Algona & Pacific areas of King County, known by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service as Area 310. At the time we look at your home's individual value, however, this information will be localized even further, helping everyone involved understand what the appropriate market price for your home really is. It's tough to make educated decisions without the hard facts backing them up.   This fi...

I just came back in the house and to my home office desk. The weather is gorgeous -- clear blue sky and the garden just called for a quick walk through. Picked a few dahlias and stuff to put in a vase on my desk. Such peacefulness. Yes, I know that owning a home is tremendous commitment. It's hard, daggone it! Like many of you, we're close to being upside down on our house. We bought right in the middle of the 2005 upswing of prices. Four plus years later, we're back to where we started. At least once a week I walk through the house and the yard and mutter about all of the remodeling that's still undone. And bemoan the hundreds ... make that thousands... of dollars we've spent on it thus far. With thousands yet to be spent. Sometimes we make mistakes in our home choices. Sometimes we've...

Visiting the Western Washington State Fair in Puyallup is a yearly tradition in my household. What can I say? ... I love looking over the pen at the massive momma sow with her bazillion piglets! Must be a frustrated farmer in here somewhere. The fair starts next Friday, the 11th and runs through the 27th, so I wanted to get the schedule out to you right away. After all, maybe you really want to go to the Rodeo. I know my son loves it! Have fun! Get in line for scones, but don't eat too many fair burgers & fried Twinkies this year; after all I KNOW you'll want to ride the Extreme Scream!   Here's a quick schedule and info about transportation. For more, visit The Fair!

"Tubby" is a well-loved member of our family that, obviously, lives up to his name. Shortly after this photo was taken, he did gain a bit more room, thanks to his move to the country with the rest of the family. For help with your next move, call Tubby's "mom." I'm always delighted to be of help for your own growing pains.

Farmers markets are the best place to stock up on fresh fruits, veggies, flowers ... and kettle corn! That's definitely the case at the Auburn International Farmers Market, held every Sunday from June 14th into September or so. In addition to the food goodies, there's typically a guest chef cooking up farm fresh goodies, along with kids activities such as face painting and the Auburn Library storytelling time. Held at the Auburn Sounder Train Station, 23 A Street SW, from 11am to 3pm, you'll want to stop in and stock up for the week! Want to exhibit or sell at the market or just need more information? Visit the official Auburn International Farmers Market site.

Agents in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area tend to travel around a bit. Me too! After all within a 10-15 mile radius of my home ... or maybe about 30-35 minutes of drive time might be a better gauge ... I can touch, let's see, 19 cities: Auburn (my home town), Maple Valley (my office location), Kent (my previous home's location), Renton (my high school years), south Seattle (where I grew up), Issaquah, Covington, Federal Way, Edgewood, Jovita, Sumner, Bonney Lake, Lake Tapps, Milton, Fife, Tacoma, Des Moines, Puyallup. Even Bellevue is only about 35 minutes away in reasonable traffic. And I'll bet I'm forgetting a few! So ... when asked where I work, I say southeast King County and northeast Tacoma. I wonder if anyone but me knows where that is?
