Fortunatel, ridding wood in your home of mildew is easy. You will first need to do a test to see if the splotches are really mildew or are they plain dirt. Place a drop of household bleach that contain sodium hypochlorite on the suspected area in your home. The dark color of mildew will fade in a minute or so. If it's only dirt it will go unchanged. The very worst basement that I've inspected was also the most dangerous one I had ever goen in to. I could see there was water on the basement floor as I entered it. The water was very visible. But I went against the very advice that I give folk's and walked right on in. It looked like the leak was coming from the other side of the basement, so I walked on over, and splashing water as I went over to see what the problem could be. The answer would be yes, your inspector could tape a small mirror, plastic, or even some aluminum foil to the surface of the foundation of the home, ether the inspector or the client can go back to the home several days later to see if there is any moisture on the surface of the material or under the material that was use for the test. Now if the moisture is between the material and the foundation wall of the home, then the moisture is most likely seepage. Will it really depends on a lot of things.   Heres are some very fine Hush Puppies   Shout we get started ? 2 Cups of Plain Cornmeal 1 Cup of Self Rising Flour 2 Nice Eggs 1/4 Teaspoon of Baking Powder 1 and 1/2 Teaspoons of Salt 1 Tablespoon of Sugar 1 Small can of Cream Corn 1/3 Cup of Jalapeno Peppers, Chopped up 1 Bell Pepper, Chopped up 1 Small Onion, Chopped up Enough Milk   Now lets mix all the ingredients. Be sure to use enough milk to make the consistency of cornbread batter. Ifen ya don't use enough milk, your hush puppies will fall apart on ya. That would not be good for sure.
