TUESDAY TAILS FOR 9.30.14 I just have to update you on JACK one of the dogs I profiled last week!!!! This wonderful boy had been on the Euthanize list at the pound and was rescued in the nick of time.  Tuesday Tails for 9.23.14   The Franklin County Humane Society does a great job with the animals that come in to the Rocky Mount location. They also work tirelessly with other rescue organizations and the pound.   This is Jack. Jack was on the stray hold list at the local pound and went straight to the EUTH list because of 'medical issues'. The issue?  In his short life, Jack had been abused and was covered with cigarette burns! Fortunately thru the dedicated work of the staff at FCHS, Jack was saved and is now in a loving foster home. TUESDAY TAILS FOR 9.16.14   The Franklin County Humane Society is a No-Kill Adoption Center located in Rocky Mount, Virginia The center opened in 2009 and the staff works tirelessly to find placement for every dog or cat taken into its care, giving pets abandoned at the county’s animal shelter a second chance.  The Adoption Center is a REALLY happy place for its residents while they wait for their forever homes.                 Dogs relax in large Doggie Dens on the lower level. They go outside to exercise several times a day in large fenced areas and enjoy a good game of Jolly Ball with friends. Smith Mountain Lake is a gorgeous manmade lake in southwest Virginia and will be celebrating it's 50th Anniversary in 2016. With 500 miles of shoreline, it's a large lake that includes an area in Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties. Thanks to the efforts of local resident Bill Piatt, Chairman of the SML 50th Anniversary Steering Committee and the U.S. Postal Service, if you live in the communities of Glade Hill, Goodview, Hardy, Huddleston, Moneta, Penhook, Union Hall or Wirtz you can now use Smith Mountain Lake as your return address. Nothing else changes, your street address and zip will remain the same.
