Attending open houses that offer refreshments often are very memorable to buyers and their agents who happen to be with them.  While I was showing properties today in Chesterfield County Virginia for one of my clients, she asked that we stop at an open house in the vicinity and take a look at it.   Upon entering this beautiful home, we noticed a very welcoming aroma.  As soon as we entered the kitchen, a table with delicious refreshments and homemade cookies was shown to us.  It was very thoughtful that this listing agent and her affiliated mortgage specialist brought us some goodies.   After thanking the listing agent holding the open house for her generous hospitality, we resumed our drive to the regularly stops for property showings.  While driving us to the next property destination...

We are well into our summer and it has been a little warm to say the least, and everyone is looking for ways to stay cool.  I wanted to share a few simple thoughts and maintaining comfort, while maintaining a comfortable budget.   Proper Insulation:  Check the spots that tend the leak air the most such as doorways, windows, and attic space.  Insulating these areas properly are key as it help keep the cool air inside, as well as keeping you from throwing the money out of the window.  In addition, with so many tax credits for becoming energy efficient, now is the time for these smaller projects you may have been holding back on Install Curtains:  This is one fantastic idea that is so simple and best of all, CHEAP!  By having curtains put up, and keeping closed during the day will help in ...

Well, it's that time again.  Sunday morning, and I'm gearing up for the stand-by Sunday Open House.  This Sunday - and every Sunday except holidays - I'm holding open the Windsor Court Condominiums, located smack-dab in the middle of the Historic Fan District.  Here are some quick facts about the project: The actual address is 1608-1614 Grove Avenue, in between Vine and Lombardy. There are 24 total units located in three different buildings set back around a GORGEOUS central courtyard - two "wing" buildings, 1608 Grove and 1614 Grove, and the "main building at 1610 Grove. Each unit has a minimum of 2 bedrooms, 1 bath.  Twelve of the 24 units have an extra half bath. There is one DEDICATED parking space per unit.  For lots of people, this is a big deal.  [NOTE:  Me, I've lived right arou...

I just got around to flipping through my most recent copy of the "Fanfare," the Fan District Association's bi-monthly newsletter.  There is a lot of cool stuff coming up in the Fan, so I thought I'd list the activities, in case people who aren't "Fanfare" subscribers aren't aware.  So here they are, in date order: Saturday, April 25:  The "Binford Bash," celebrating the visual and performing arts.  The Bash will be held behind the Binford Middle School, located at 1701 Floyd Avenue, from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  For more details check out www.binfordpta.org.  I haven't been before, but I certainly plan to wander right on around the corner.  It looks to be great fun for the entire family.  Sunday, April 26:  The 69th Annual West Avenue Garden Tour.  Children's events begin at noon, an...
