Forbes.com recently put out its short list and Prince William came in 14th. According to Forbes, the median household income in Prince William, with a population of 358,719, was $88,876 in 2008. The numbers of new REO and foreclosure listings in PW County increased steadily and dramatically from January 2007 through August 2007.Foreclosed homes progress from current status to preforeclosure to foreclosure to REO to new owners after settlement. When homeowners need to sell or cannot pay their mortgage and the market value of the property is less than what they owe they may attempt a short sale.  If the short sale fails and/or the homeowner continues not to make the required payments the lender(s) may foreclose on the property.  If no one else buys the property at the trustee's sale the lender may buy it themselves and carry it in their own portfolio of "Real Estate Owned" (REO).  It will usually be listed for sale and sold to new owners using a broker specializing in REO listing... 09/18/2007
