This 1822 railroad bridge in Nokesville spans what is now the Norfolk and Southern Railway tracks. During the Civil War era it was the Orange and Alexandria Railroad and was coveted by both the Confederate and Union forces. The two battles at Manassas and the later one at Bristoe Station were waged with the Aden Road bridge in the middle of it all.When the 1863 Bristoe Station battle was over the victorious Union forces had to rebuild the railroad, but I am unaware if that included repairs to the bridge.
