Although there are many ways to have fun on Lake Anna one of my favorite things to do is taking pictures.  Yes, I hate being on the boat without my camera.  There is no doubt that there will be many, many things I'll see that I want to capture to look at over and over again. Granted the things of interest to me are often houses and boat houses but that may not be so strange for a Realtor®.  Every time I'm out on the water I notice at least one house I haven't noticed before.  It may be a brand new construction or simply one that escaped my sight before.  The same goes for boat houses.  Then there are always the places that have had some landscaping done or renovations to the property. One of the pleasures of fall is getting out on the water to see the beautiful fall colors.  Today was such a day.  Dockside Realty held its Annual Fall Flotilla.  We had super weather, bright sunshine much of the time and not a bit of rain in sight. Topping off the day was a nice turnout and a very tasty lunch in a wonderful setting.  We dined outside on the patio and the beach area of a lovely home that is currently on the market in Twin Lakes, a subdivision that has access to both sides of Lake Anna.                 The photo on the left was taken in the early spring so it  does not show the colorful leaves that we were lucky enough to see today.  However, it is the beach where some of our guests had lunch today.  This is just one of many lovely homes that we saw today as well as only... 10/22/2011

My knight in, not so, shining armor was almost really mine. A few years ago I had a call to come and list a house.  When I went over we walked the lot and found something quite remarkable.  In the midst of some very thick woods was a surprise to the owner.  Now mind you this owner had only owned the property for one month. What was discovered was a knight.  A great big knight.  Perhaps this photo will help you grasp the size of this sentry. I think I was giving him a hug. Today I took photos of a new listing.  I really like the house which makes it a pleasure to list.  It is always a bit more exciting when you like the property you are presenting for sale.  One of the things I liked most about this property is the garden.  One of the owners is a Master Gardener* and her garden is a testament to the designation she has earned. LAKE ANNA Water Access Homes SOLD 1st Qtr. 2011. There were 15 water access homes sold during the first quarter of 2011. During this same period in 2010, eight homes sold almost half the number sold this year. That certainly is a good sign and will hopefully continue into the second quarter and beyond. Water access homes, which are off water homes within a Lake Anna subdivision, have access to the lake through a common area in that particular subdivision. Each lake community has its own common area located on a waterfront lot. If the subdivision has only waterfront properties it probably has only a ramp enabling property owners to launch their boats into the lake.       Communities with access properties will also have a common area which contains a ramp and, almost always, boat slips. ... 04/16/2011

The public is invited to attend a meeting to be held by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation at the Dominion Resource Building at 1022 Haley Drive off Kentucky Springs Road (Rt. 652) Mineral, VA.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss plans for Lake Anna State Park.  The management plan for the park is being updated and the public is encouraged to attend this meeting and to offer suggestions. Where do you grocery shop at Lake Anna?  For years I've been asked this question as I drove buyers around Lake Anna looking at property.  It was very apparent that we did not have a large supermarket at the lake.  Although I would always tell them about the convenience stores scattered around the lake but the complete answer, of course, was to go to Louisa, Fredericksburg, or some of the other cities that surround (but not too closely) Lake Anna.  Now I have a completely different answer for buyers. Sometimes I am asked why we chose to move to Lake Anna. Jobs did not bring us here nor did children or parents. We are here simply because it is exactly the type of place both my husband and I have imagined as an ideal home. We each had our separate dreams and desires and happily they were the same. They all added up to being near water, especially a lake. For us Lake Anna was the perfect choice. We loved the location, the peacefulness, the rural character of the surrounding area, and definitely the size and beauty of Lake Anna. Lake Anna has been home now for almost 19 years. There's a saying, "Good things come to those who wait". That is becoming true for those that have waited a long time to have property here at Lake Anna that will accommodate their desire to be near the water, have a golf course at hand, and the opportunity to board their horses very close to home. What else is coming to Lake Anna? Change has come slowly to Lake Anna and many of us have not minded this one bit.  Lake Anna is located in a very interesting spot.  It is in Central Virginia making it an easy drive to a number of places such as Richmond (the capitol of the Commonwealth), Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and not even that far from Washington, D.C.  Yet, it is in a very rural area.  I'd say we have the best of both worlds. Now some changes are coming.  Through the years we have seen some signs of growth now and then.  Two nurseries have been established and provide many of the Lake Anna residents with great choices for landscaping their yards.  We certainly have marinas where we are able to not only buy boats but all of the paraphernalia that goes with life on a lake.  M... 01/28/2011

Where do you go grocery shopping at Lake Anna?  Lake Anna has been waiting a LONG, LONG TIME to have a different answer to that question.  Now the time is almost here.  Before we know it the grand opening will be underway at the new Food Lion supermarket in our community.  Why is this such a big event?  Well, Lake Anna was created in 1972.  It was to take about three years to fill.  Instead Hurricane Agnes came along and dumped enough water into the "big hole" and the lake was born.  From then to now folks have gotten along with driving a distance for their big grocery shopping.
