The Joshua Wilson House in Harrisonburg, Virginia   Today was short road trip day to Harrisonburg, Virginai.  I spotted this beautiful old Victorian home that looked like it must have a history of some sort - and it does.  Rather than go into it here, just clidk the link.  Their web site gives a wonderful history of the journey from wealthy guy's home to boarding house to Toga Toga frat house to beautiful B&B with a fabulous restaurant - owned and run by former James Madison University students who just couldn't leave Harrisonburg. And meet the chef! What a great weekend getaway - it's less than 3 hours from DC.   If you are planning a move to or from the Washington, DC area, I can help!  I am licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.  You may call, email or text me a...

Harrisonburg residents have long been known to hold the view that taking care of our environment is very important. As such, many have started using rain barrels, compost bins, solar energy, electric cars, etc. Well, the leaders of Harrisonburg have taken notice, and in October, Harrisonburg Electric Commission (HEC) will be providing a charging station to those with electric cars! The new charging station will be located behind HEC in Downtown Harrisonburg, and yet again, Harrisonburg will be “on the map” because according to the press release from Downtown, it “will become the first city in the Shenandoah Valley and one of only a handful of cities in the state with a public, Level II electric car charging station.” An unveiling ceremony will take place on October 5 at 10:00 AM in the...

Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance and the City of Harrisonburg have granted several businesses with facade enhancement grants this year. This grant program supports property improvements and has been able to stay in place, despite the state of the economy. In 2011, eight grants were awarded for a total of $20,000 in improvement funds. These businesses will use the money to enhance the exterior of their businesses, which adds to the overall aesthetic of downtown Harrisonburg. If you are thinking of relocating to the Shenandoah Valley and want to know more about the area - here's a little gem and I want to share it with you. Right here in Harrisonburg Virginia there is a place where your children can step out of the day to day and into discovery! The Explore More Discovery Museum has exhibits to expand the minds of children. Children can create with art projects, become a construction worker and build with Keva planks, become a TV anchor or weather reporter, make new discoveries in the science lab, work on cars in the super service center, perform theater, explore farming, become a chef at CK's Kitchen or experience the great outdoors with puppet shows and a snack in the woods. A special area for 3 & under visitors is also available where toddlers can enjoy a...
